Every year the media plays a large role in shaping our perception of certain teams. Teams with a lot of exposure and talent are more likely to be propped up by talking heads. This undeniably factors into the way pollsters fill out their ballots. Which is why blind resumes are such a great thing: all exterior variables are taken out of the equation, and it is only the quality of a teams resume that is taken into account.

Let's see if you can differentiate between the following teams:

Team A: 44 RPI, 17-6, 0-2 v RPI top 25, 1-3 v RPI top 50, 4-6 v RPI top 100

Team B: 24 RPI, 16-6, 1-4 v RPI top 25, 2-5 v RPI top 50, 7-6 v RPI top 100

Team C: 23 RPI, 18-5, 0-1 v RPI top 25, 1-2 v RPI top 50, 5-3 v RPI top 100

Team D: 22 RPI, 17-6, 1-5 v RPI top 25, 2-6 v RPI top 50, 6-6 v RPI top 100

Team E: 32 RPI, 17-6 0-2 v RPI top 25, 3-3 v RPI top 50, 6-4 v RPI top 100

It's hard to believe their RPIs are that good beating no one.

Do you want them ranked?

Memphis is like 20-3 so they are not E. B is defninitely Uconn and I am pretty sure D is tOSU. Not sure who the other three are but I think E is ND.

Dan got three of the five. The answers were:

Team A: Kentucky (ranked 25th in the AP poll, believed to be rounding into the form of a contender)

Team B: UConn (not receiving votes in either poll, pretty much blind to the public eye)

Team C: Belmont (sneaky good team that nobody knows about)

Team D: Ohio State (ranked 13th in one poll, 14th in the other, considered to be a Final Four quality team)

Team E: Missouri (ranked first and second in the "receiving votes" category)

I just thought it was interesting how all over the map these teams are in terms of the way the public views them, yet their resumes are all so similar. If you asked your typical college basketball fan to rank these teams, they'd consider Ohio State the best by a decent margin, followed by Kentucky and Missouri. Yet one could argue Belmont and UConn are just as good. I think even the boneyard has undersold this UConn team a little bit. Many of you have been clammoring on about this team being "not very good", but the body of work indicates they are a fringe top 25 squad.

Knowing the names and not numbers I have had Belmont 1, Kentucky 5 and the other three in any order 2-4.
