I'm posting this because I don't want to win alone. I'm 1-2 in betting the Daytona 500 with an ROI of $430. I had a real shot last year at 30-1 until a late caution. Then again, there's always a late caution. My angle is to find a high-qualifying balkie driving a Ford. Fords do well at Daytona and having a balkie gives you better odds. It's pretty much the car that qualifies well not the driver. And the finale is usually such a cluster, driver skill is less of a premium than at other venues. If you get the winner, you might as well get paid. I used to watch a lot more NASCAR and even went to a few races, not so much anymore. But it's a good thrill for short money if you are in the mix late.
The Pick: Michael McDowell 31-1 on FD
Bomb: Harrison Burton 65-1
