Just an edit here- it appears we are fine but they basically call, us out and I quote

Connecticut is back in the field following a one-year NCAA tournament ban last year after failing to meet APR minimums. UConn was one of 10 schools barred from last year's postseason.

I'm now testy.

I thought we were doing well. This says otherwise. I did not think ESPN could possibly dump on us anymore then they have-if this is a fluke stat- they should be ashamed of themselves. Poorly timed.
I think we have one score left in the 800s that is really dragging down our average, but we are fine, as that score will soon be replaced by this years, which will be 1000.

Can't wait for the big cheating scandal that is certain to happen at one of the ESPN darling schools some day.

It's embarrassing that academics at UCF are now involved with this phony APR stuff, but that's really the way academia is going anyway with metrics, assessments and Six Sigma, so it's not a great surprise.

USF basketball's GSR: 88%
USF's actual graduation rate for basketball: 0%

And you have a professor at UCF backing this up.

You mean like UNC and the revelation that they had been setting up phony no show classes for athletes since the early 90's?

Everyone see these two words: "Associated Press"?
ESPN ran the article, but didn't write it. The article did, however, run in news outlets all around the country.
We got screwed by the NCAA, and the postseason ban, dumb as it was, is not something we're going to be able to put behind us right away, much as we'd like to. It will follow us for a while. But this particular transgression is not ESPN's doing.

Then ESPN won't shove it down the public's throats so everyone will act like it never happened...

Oh wait, that already happened with UNC...

During the halftime of one of the AAC Tourny games, the third-rate host said something like, "UConn is back in the postseason after a one-year ban. The grades are up, and so are the Huskies."

THESE KIDS HAD 0% TO DO WITH THE POSTSEASON BAN YOU NITWIT.

It's incredibly insulting to suggest that this roster has anything been good students and loyal members of the UConn family.

Above all else, the most bothersome part of the whole APR mess was the burden of guilt levied upon the kids on the current team. I remember being in Providence last year to watch them play, and seeing a sign that said, "Shabazz can't read". It's fairly innocuous as far as opposing student taunts, but I just recall being disgusted beyond measure, because that was the public perception of the current team and the media did very little to diffuse that.

Is it messed up that they keep bringing it up? YES! But I kinda see it as putting the rest of the country on notice... watch out because the god damn UCONN HUSKIES are in the tournament and all you other teams better watch the out!

I don't know if I read it here or elsewhere, but back in the fall I read that Alabama's APR was higher than Harvard's.

is higher than Harvard's.

Harvard had 2 straight years of below the threshold APR scores, but you have to do the math to figure it out. Their rolling average is above 930, but they had a perfect rolling average and suddenly dropped 2 years in a row. They are still safe from being banned, but if you do the math, the only thing that could have dropped them to their current score from their near perfect score is 2 straight years of failing APRs.

If only we were UNC, we could have our players take fake classes and not get in any trouble with the NCAA.

the socialists in the state legislature don't care about athletics, only the tax dollars, if any, from ESPN and the whacked out profs at UConn

its happened at unc, cuse and look at courses the players at duke take. young lady up the street who goes to duke says most are in "bball referee tactics and philosophy", "modern urban music", 'online current affairs", the history of college basketball", "basic high school math" etc. she claims they are not mandated to choose from then basic school curriculum or requisites. She heard it was the same at UNC and FSU

I would like to know the real story behind ESPN's involvement in CR and the destruction of the BE and the consequent impairment of UConn's future.
Another thing, let's wait and see if ESPN ever does a credible job of discussing potential violations by UNC or Syracuse... ever! Wonder why?

Yeah, because that worked out so well when we went after BCU several years back. IMHO UCONN just needs to keep their heads down and continue to move forward. I can't say ANY of the horrific publicity we garnered over the past 3 years has had any effect on recruiting - Ollie has landed 5 star Hamilton, and 4-5 star kids Ali and Jackson from 2015. And things are only going to continue to look better for UCONN as we put that APR behind us, open our best-in-the-nation hoops facility this summer, and Ollie continues to make a splash on the national scene.

Our conference is strong from a men's hoops perspective (sure they were dissed this year, but they currently have 4 teams going forward that could legit be in the top 25 (UCONN, Cinci, Memphis, SMU), and others hopefully improving enough to make some noise). I think the future looks really bright...

Why put that in? Just to bring it up again?

There was no reason at all, but then again ESPN and it's Syracuse grads have been screwing UCONN for the past few years

This was in the Wall Street Journal today so I'm a little confused.

The way this is written they are including 4 year and 2 year averages that go back to the time we were banned for? Because the perfect score is only being reported this fall for12 and 13. What I want to know is this, is there anyone on the current roster who is an academic problem? That's what's relevant.
