The NY Times sports section had an article today about an NYC girls basketball PSAL tournament game that wound up 117-8. The winning coach was apologetic, the losing coach was not upset and commended the winners, and it was just another of those situations where the league rules force two totally mismatched teams to face each other for a variety of reasons, some of them maybe good but some that are just misguided. The winning coach had his team pressing on defense for three quarters, which a lot of fans would object too, but as he would say (and maybe Geno would second), he has to keep his players ready for the next far tougher tournament game and he can't afford to let them slide into bad habits. Not sure how much good it does to press the hell out of a team that was good in past seasons but is now a halpless 1-15 wreck, but whatever.

But the outlandish statement from the winning coach came when he was talking about the things he had to ask his team to do in the 4th quarter to ease up. The winning coach did this he said by "telling the players to complete several passes before shooting."

Just wow, pass the ball. Wonder if Geno would agree with that idea.
