I can see Duke as #2. UNC lost Diamond, and Louisville lost Shoni et al. But ND is a clear #1.

Doesnt Duke have the little problem of having no guards?

They've got Sierra Calhoun, Rebecca Greenwell, and the juco transfer Mercedes Riggs coming in. They just can't sustain any injuries because they're very thin there.

Duke #2?

My thought!

Walz and Louisville (other teams too) would likely use crazy trapping defenses on those guards.

Foul trouble or injures to backcourt could also be a problem.

Duke had a JUCO guard who has never had D1 defensive traps or uber athletic guards hounding her. Greenwell is coming off an ACL injury and Calhoun has never played a college game and is more if a 3 to me than a ball handling guard

Will be interesting to see how the season starts for Duke.

We'll learn a lot about Duke early on. Tough OOC schedule includes: @Texas A&M, @Nebraska, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Kentucky and @Uconn.

Are Calhoun and Greenwell PGs? I thought both were more wings.

Yeah, but you use what you got...

I know, but it impacts the season outlook. If they're vastly out of position (eg, Shea Ralph as a PG), then it confirms my expectation that Duke is way too high at #2.

No, I think you're right. Beyond Riggs, I don't know who else they intend to play the point. Maybe one of our Blue Devil friends can chime in.

Senior Ka'lia Johnson will start at the PG. She started at the PG in last year's ACC tourney and NCAA's. She's more of a combo guard than a PG.... but beggars can't be choosers.

UNC has some talented players, but they play a scatterbrained style.

ND should be able to eat them alive.

I thought she was the PG at the end last year, but I never thought she looked overly comfortable there. Of course, a summer of practice will probably fix that.

40% of the teams come from the old Big East. No wonder it's a good basketball conference. Like the old timers, guess everyone decided to move south to get out of the cold(er) weather. They could let UConn move in just to get away from CT taxes [mod edit; no politics please]. Nah, too many scandals associated with the ACC (UNC). They aren't really a football conference either. UConn could probably beat half their teams. (Okay, that was a really BIG stretch.)

This season, UConn FB would beat 0 of their teams. :(

Wake Forest vs UCONN would be a good matchup this year. First team to 7, wins :p

Actually... not sure either team could score 7 pts
