The MoJet only played 16 minutes and had a (for her) very quiet game statistically. Was she ailing in any way or was Geno just trying to get Saniya battle ready?
How did BB look? Did she appear to be back to 100%?
Very frustrating to have gametracker and game thread as only sources of what is happening.

I believe the game plan was to get Chong, Banks, and Stokes as much time as possible. At some point Geno has to do this. Next year he is going to rely heavily on those players and none have had extensive or consistent playing time in their careers. Stokes has always been a few minutes here and there kind of player despite being a junior, Chong is obviously new, and Banks didn't play a lot in her freshman year, then got hurt last year, and has been in and out this year. Next year Stokes and Banks are seniors and the team is going to need them, so they need to get as good as they can be in the next six weeks that are left in the season and tournament.

Yeah - a bit strange - considering he played Bria 29. Obviously he wanted to get both Banks and Chong lots of minutes but Moriah only got 4 minutes in the second half. I sort of think she must have been under the weather or something. She didn't seem to be playing badly and she did start the second half but came out at the first media and never went back in. With two games coming in Texas he may be planning to give her a lot of minutes in those.
I thought Banks played well - some good defense, but still not looking for her shot. She did have a couple of nice drives late in the game. Didn't seem to be limited at all.

The talking heads were of the opinion that Geno is trying to get minutes for Saniya and BB in preparation for the tournament. I would agree that they need some extended time to get them up and going. Both will be needed and based on today I think they will be big contributors.

In post-game presser Geno said Mo has been "hobbled a little bit" in practice, they have a lot of games coming up, the guards take a lot of pounding on the court 'cuz they go up & down more than the big guys, so he thought it was a good opportunity to get her some rest.

Also on BB getting a lot of minutes, he said she gets what she deserves - if she practices we'll she gets playing time. She's her own worst enemy sometimes - when she gets no minutes that's what she deserves. Said she's been practicing really well and it extended into the game tonight.

BTW, last night on The Geno Show he made it clear at about the 5 minute mark that neither TLaw nor Polly will not be getting extra time to play in the post season. He was very clear and blunt. And thepeople who phone him or email about that idea should just stop. He stated neither will see the light of day in the NCAAs unless UCONN has a big lead late.

Banks looked lost on offense. Missed a lay-up very badly and bricked 2 free throws. However, she played pretty tough D.

BB looked better as the game went on. She missed a lay up but Stewie missed 3. BB made a nice drive to attack the hoop for a basket. The foul shots were real bricks.

I certainly agree that both Banks and Chong need some run ... but all things being equal you also don't want to go the opposite direction with your starters - taking five minutes from each and giving it to one of the bench players is fine, taking 15 minutes from one is as likely to throw them out of rhythm.

Thanks - that makes sense - she also got whacked pretty hard a couple of times in the game.

Just to be a bit picky, but without the game to watch, it's hard to get a feel for the intangibles. Chong seemed to get better as the game went along and she did not get pulled out except for small stretches. It's as if Geno wanted to let her get over any doubts related to getting pulled out for small mistakes. She really got much better on Offense, but still had periods where she did not get into the dynamic flow of offensive movement. This did linger through the game. She spent a lot of time just standing and not moving. The entire time she stood, there was no defender on her, as if they could sense her non-contribution at these times. I think she started to move better on O by the end of the game and her point total reflected this. Her D was very good all game long. Stuck to her player, got rebounds, and disrupted passes and shots regularly. BB played good D, but on O she was hesitant with every pass. Received the ball and did not know who to send it to next. She would try for one player, change her mind and try for another player and change her mind, usually three times every she had the ball. She was just not situationally aware enough to just pass the ball without hesitation. That hesitation usually caused the open player to not be open, hence her indecision.

It was easy to see as compared to the quick hands and superb passing game of the others. Bria H once got the ball and immediately made a no look pass inside, no hesitation, and led to an easy basket. The group of Hartely, Dolson, Stewie, Kiah, and MoJett (as well as Chong later in the game) contrasted sharply with BB's hesitation on O. All in all, she really did do a good job This reply is merely to help the fan without the tv to watch the game and not meant to deinigrate BB's contribution. She really is a great player and will be a strong contributor from the bench, if not a starter after she gets her feet wet a bit more. Perhaps the Houston game will take care of that.

All in all the game had a strong dynamic flow to it. In fact IMO, the lack of competition led to the Huskies moving too fast and taking rushed shots. No fault of the ladies, but was caused by the lack of UCF to slow down the Huskies in anyway. Those rushed shots seemed to actually cause the Husky's shooting percentage to be lower than it may well have been otherwise. It was interesting to watch the lack of competition actually be a detriment to the Husky's game in this manner.
