Looks like Cooke got hurt while warming up, so he is coming out of the game. Kirby coming in to pitch the bottom of the 3rd.

Too bad for Cooke, he did well in those 2 innings.

Bottom 3rd, after a leadoff single, Kirby throws a double play ball. Kirby with a shutdown scoreless inning. 3-0 UConn.

Don't love sac bunting Morton there, would have preferred attempting to bunt for a base hit even if it meant lesser odds of getting it down and advancing the runner.

Edit: What do I know? Garbowski with an RBI single to make the score 4-0.

Anytime Morton lays down a bunt, he has a very good chance of turning it into a single given his speed.

Smith doesn’t seem fully healthy. Wonder if we’ll see Daniels during the playoffs.

In other news, time to start thinking about our reinvented SP staff.

Assuming that Tammaro continues to play 2B, suspect it is more likely that we see Simmons in CF if Smith can't play. At this point I doubt the coaching staff wants to put Morton back in CF after he had some problems there earlier in the season.

Kirby is giving up a lot of hard contact. Glad we're playing here and not at Xavier or Georgetown.

Good job with the shutout innings but with the pen rested, I'd go to a different reliever next inning.

Well I like Mortons speed in Center and his defense as well as his arm.

At this point I'm inclined to stay with Kirby until they get a run off him.

Jones speculating that Northeastern could make it to Omaha. I agree; that team is legit.

UConn gets 2 runners on with no outs to start the 5th, and in desperation Creighton will turn to their closer.

Morton had a number of misplays in CF when he was playing there while Simmons was out. That's the reason Smith is playing CF, he took over for Morton due to those misplays.
