CA QB Bennett to Boise State:
'99 percent chance' Boise State QB transfer Kaiden Bennett coming to Nevada
>>Bennett was a three-star dual-quarterback recruit out of high school and picked Boise State over offers from Utah, Cincinnati, UTEP, San Diego State, New Mexico and UConn. He was in his first fall camp with the Broncos but decided to transfer before school started. Kaiden Bennett told local the Idaho Press he was homesick, but his father, Derek, said the bigger issue was the fact he didn't feel like he got a chance to compete for the starting job.
Boise State will start four-star true freshman Hank Bachmeier in its season opener against Florida State.
“Hank Bachmeier was this highly-rated quarterback they had signed in the class," Derek Bennett said. "But they still came and contacted Kaiden, and what Kaiden is not afraid of is competition. He felt he was just as good as him or better and, ‘If you are going to give me a fair chance at winning the job, well I can win this job.’ When he got there, Hank is the highest-rated player in Mountain West football and highest-rated recruit at Boise State. I think the coaches focused on the race being between Chase (Cord) and Hank, and Kaiden got pushed to the back a little bit.<<
