2019 CT High School Preseason/Season Rankings

Wow..... FCIAC got screwed in the L and LL pairings. The teams ranked #3 and #4 in the state poll (Darien and Greenwich) end up paired against each other in the LL first round. In Class L, Hand of Madison luck's out............even though there are three teams from the FCIAC in the Class L playoffs, Hand does not have to play any of them until the finals.

Very vanilla on offense. Basically line up and run power.
The reason I say why they are not very good is they lose to Southington, which itself is a paper tiger. Darien killed Southington earlier this season in an OOC matchup, and though ranked #3 in the state, Darien just lost to always dangerous New Canaan today 20-0. Shows the tremendous depth that the FCIAC has, and that's not even talking about St Joe's which beat New Canaan 58-14 on Oct 4th. Ranking Hand, which could barely beat Shelton, over St Joe's is a joke.

This is the strongest Class S division I've seen in several years. Ansonia has work to do, Sheehan and Bloomfield are not Valley pushovers. Even Woodland has a decent team this year.
Agreed....Ansonia is not vintage Ansonia. They haven’t been in a long time. With inclement weather expected, #8 Plainfield @ #1 Ansonia will be played at Ryan Field in Derby. If you haven’t seen it, Derby’s new turf athletic complex is unreal. There’s nothing else like it in CT.
Ryan Sports Complex

It will all play out in the end but St Joe’s is scary good. A SJ/Hand state final will be a must see if it plays out. St Joe’s road is tougher. Still, they have so many weapons on offense and arguably the best defense in the state. If you want to see what modern day offenses looks like watch SJ play. Very dynamic!! SJ also has the best kicker in the state in Austin Jose, who is also a weapon at WR along with Will Diamantis and Brady Hutchison. Hutchison (2021/WR/PR/KR) camped at UConn over the summer.

Our staff should split up on Saturday for the state championships. Half go to Trumbull. Half go to New Britain. Make a presence in the football community.
