I could care a less who we "beat" on the recuriting trail; I want to beat teams on the field. We beat no one for Blidi, Kendall, Griffin, Lutrus, Bama, etc. Besides, the idea that any of these kids have offers to any of the schools is simply not credible, for several reasons. If it were the case, then schools would be admitting far in excess of the scholly limits. Keep your eye on the college fields of play, not the HS/camp circuits.

So the 118 offers above are not real? Schools offer way than slots more because the competition is fierce. And, yes, verbal commitments mean squat but they do mean that the staff moves onto another kid or position when they hear it. I do keep my eye on the field. And kids that have decent offer lists by and large outperform kids with weak offer lists. There are always exception and you listed the one's for Uconn. And the best exceptions seem to come from the unskilled positions. And the guys you listed were surrounded by some decent players that did have other Div. 1 offers. This is a building year, I get it. Stars mean nothing, I get it. But on a head to head basis with schools Uconn has been competing with for recruits, and beating out for its fair share of recruits, for years, this year is a huge drop off. And since I though BD was known for his recruiting, I find it less than appealing at this point in time. Even Edsall got the ball rolling by beating out BC for a QB.

It is what it is. I hope all of these kids lead the resurgance. I really do. But I also hope the recruiting improves.

Edit - Murphy had a decent offer list and Uconn did beat out a peer school that offered. So I retract my original statement that this staff has not beaten anybody for a recruit.

Can we please stop rehashing the same argument in the recruiting thread?

Okay, no discussing recruiting in the recruiting thread. I think I got it although it does not seem to make sense. I will not post about that issue again in this thread.

Don't be a smart aleck. If you want to complain about recruiting philosophies, then feel free to make a new thread in this forum or in the football. This thread should be used for information pertaining to UConn recruits.

Kid's got nice size ( 6'4 230lbs )... and he's from the West coast (OR) ... Would be nice to tap into that region

Actually he's from Orlando, FL and goes to The First Academy. I believe he went to a Nike camp in Oregon however.

Anybody feel like some of these kids that have committed that have no or 2 stars so far will more than likely end up as 3 star kids? I think so... Seems like we're getting kids that are 'under the radar' earlier now instead of going after the kids that are already ranked. I like this process better.

I would not expect many upticks in stars - no incentive for rivals or 24/7 to do so. Not that I care. I remain firmly committed to trusting this staff to rebuild the team with the pieces they think fit best, rather than a couple of guys who never played and could not run 40 yards

Not a chance. Rivals has no incentive to do so. UConn football doesn't pay the bills. The SEC and select other programs do. UConn is the 93rd ranked team in the country and 2* recruits maintains the status quo. There is no upward pressure to change.

Blessed to be able to say I got offered by two more schools last week, The United States Naval Academy, and FAMU.
Nice highlights. Seems to have an eye for the ball and is very aggressive, even when being blocked by bigger guys. I hope he gets an offer. Seems to fit the profile nicely: big guy with smarts. Having his sister at UConn is nice, too.

I disagree. I think with us getting commitments from these types of kids earlier (we've never done this before) I think we have a few soon to be unhidden gems in the class so far. This program has no place to go but up.. Ride or die Husky fan here. I see this program working to take the next step and stay there not just make a cameo appearence and fall back.

What will happen is if these "under the radar kids" have breakout seasons and start getting offered by other P5 schools at the end of recruiting season, if they flip they will immediately be jacked to a 3* if they stay firm to the UCONN commit, they won't change in ranking......

I like him as DL. Big and can move a bit. Good moves and get up field to the ball carrier/QB.

Me too... He's one of those kids you can definitely see taking a redshirt year and bulking up to play inside on the DLine

Appears to have the raw size and frame for it. Can be a bull rusher in the interior I think. He looks like Lindsey Witten did as a senior just about.
