From Borges’ latest article:

Expect a slow trickle of announcements over the coming days/weeks on what UConn players may return for next season. It’s not out of the realm that a senior or two could return under the NCAA’s COVID-influenced guidelines that give them one extra year of eligibility.

The three are pretty close, right?

Wonder if they come back as a package or if they split up based on personal interests

I haven’t thought any of these guys would return, but it is interesting that none of their families were at the game on senior night if I remember correctly. Maybe part of that is because they will be at senior night next year?

They could all move up into the record books for total games played. Carlton could even be the all-time leader besting Shabazz's 143. Probably not close in any other category.

Whaley was our second best player this year. I would take him back in a heartbeat. Polley took a step back. Not sure if it was the injury or something else but if we can get junior year Polley, sign me up! And, if he comes back and starts shooting well again, Hurley needs to play him over Jackson if Jackson doesn't miraculously become a three point threat.

Maybe I’m in the minority here but I’m looking forward to 100% Hurley guys. Polley and Carlton hurt us more than they help us. Whaley is the only one that can have a solid role for us next season. Again, wouldn’t mind if we went 100% Hurley next season as originally planned.

Out of the three, I can see Carlton being the one most likely to return. I don't think returning would help Polley or Whaley, but another off season in the program, and another 30-35 college games could potentially help Carlton play himself into a pro over seas.

Well, if Hurley asks any of them back, he essentially is admitting there is a role for them in his system. They can officially transition over to being a Hurley guy. If he doesn’t see a fit, he won’t be sentimental.

The squad is getting crowded next year. If any of these guys want to take advantage of a free year of education, I'd welcome it. Carlton got very few minutes even with Akok out, so I doubt he's come back to play. I'd love to have Whaley back. They guy we could most use obviously would be Polley if he straightened himself out. A 3pt specialist who shoots under 35% isn't much use. If he had a Giffey like leap, that's a different story.

We assuming Brendan Adams is done? Would be interesting if he came back into like a Donyell Beverly 2010-2011 leadership role knowing he wasnt the best player but helped being one of the most experienced and became team captain.

Many pro leagues worldwide has been affected by this pandemic. Cases are rising again all over Europe so its not a given they'll be able to play. It used to be that you can earn a good living playing basketball in Europe. That may no longer hold true until Europe gets over the pandemic.

If they want to wait it out another year, it could be at another school if not here.

After 4 years, he is not likely to leap to a Giffey performer. If we get more shooters, then maybe his 3 point percentage will improve. Giffey was not one dimensional.

I wonder if they all have enough credits to graduate. If not, why not play while finishing up. If so, there's grad school. I'm not overly confident about next year's roster having these three bigs leave at the same time. I understand it's time to move on but having just one stay could be a big boost with experience.
