Week 3 and people are upset where teams are ranked?
Too much time on many hands
UConn needs to play a few teams of some substance in order to earn a speck of respect - it starts Wednesday
Polls mean nothing until mid February

It is 22.

Seton Hall in at 21. X in at 25.

Auburn up to 19, Bonnies to 16.

We can make our move this week if we can beat Aub, MSU and Baylor to win B4A. We will move to top 15 possibly crack the top 10.

The "polls mean nothing until late in the season" is pure BS. They absolutely mean something every week. The media perception around a program means more $$, more prime time TV slots, and pays dividends with better recruiting.

Don't forget the fact that these kids spend 40 hours a week in the gym, practicing their ass off, while taking classes. The little number next to UConn's name means a lot to them

Solid OOC for the top of the NBE so far. Love to see it. We should have a chance at what, 10-11 ranked games this season if they leep it up? That's solid.
Yeah definitely a bunch of Quad 1 opps.

Being ranked is good for so many reasons. Highlights of ranked teams appear on Sportscenter and the like day after day. Something like Andre Jackson making a steal and throwing down a highlight reel dunk get played multiple times a day. It's great, free advertising and helps create a buzz about the program. We have the talent again, why not showcase it as much as possible? It can't hurt recruiting.

Plus, having a ranked team helps the students and older fans get more excited about the team. The program is strong enough now that being ranked and a legit contender are an annual occurrence.

Obviously, the rankings are far more important in March, but there are countless benefits to being ranked continually.

We still have no idea how good this team is. We know they are deep. They have faced zero adversary. They haven't been behind in a second half so far. We will learn a lot about this team and where they should be ranked by the end of this week.

They faced all of that last season. They literally came back from being down alot at Marquette without James Bouknight. This team has been tested in a lot of areas already. They aren't a young team

I'll take it. Hall aint better than us though. We'll prove it in Atlantis. Great for the conference. 4 ranked teams
Well, it appears the Hall won't be there for long after losing to unranked Ohio State today.

I like the number we got today actually. We fly low on the ranked number radar and come in ranked lower than Auburn and we don't go in with a target on our back. If we knock off Auburn and win a couple more games, our next ranked team is St. B. We knock them off (a tough task) we are legit and have some cred to boot. Happy Thanksgiving week everyone!

Yeah seriously idk why people act like this team hasn’t been tested yet as if it’s all freshman. We played fine without Bouk last year but now we add a more experienced returning core + akok and a top 10 recruiting class. We’re good.

Nobody said we're bad, or decent, or anything other than good. But we lost to most of the challenging teams last year(Nova, Creighton, Maryland, BET). We failed almost every major test, then our best player and lottery pick who carried our offense left. Some of us just need to see it first, and want to do more than suck our own crotches until that proof has been put out. Do you get it now?

Given that much you're not asking for anything more than people to hold off until this week's results are reflected in next Monday's poll, your closing question deserves a Yes answer, but don't expect it.

I'll watch one game at a time and root hard for the Huskies.

The difference is as great as James was, this TEAM is much better as it is so much deeper and experienced. I expect some bumps in the road, but the potential for a great season certainly exists.

Martin has improved, Jackson has improved greatly, Hawkins is a stud, Gaffney is healthy and more experienced, Akok is healthy and playing well...so much to like about this team.

Plus, the early season polls set the tone for the entire rest of the season. As has been mentioned multiple times, last year B10 had too many teams ranked preseason and since they barely played any major opponents in OOC play, their conference held on to a lot of those spots for the remainder of the season.

Besides... it's fun! Some of us have no lives due to small children. This is all we got... :D.... :(
