Pitt was always good but not great in the big east. They have been horrendous in the acc. Absolutely embarrassing since they left. An awful program. Never did anything in the tournament in either conference and probably never will. Tcu is not a threat in college basketball.

Pitt is in a weird spot. No one, including us, wouldve turned down the ACC money but it’s a terrible fit for their athletics programs. In both football and basketball they just can’t compete in recruiting for the type of athlete that it takes to win in that league. The best fit for Pitt was always the B10 but I don’t think PSU ever would’ve let that happen. We’d all kill for the ACC paycheck, but at the end of the day it’s just blood money as they’re a bottom to mid tier punching bag in a league where they really don’t fit

Pitt lost their NYC recruiting connections when they left the BE and that just killed the program. Dixon saw that happening and bailed and then they made likely the worst D-1 hire imaginable in bring in Stallings. Syracuse has a bigger name and is better able to still recruit NYC/NE preps. UConn back in the BE will cause more recruiting pain for both Pitt and Syracuse. Notice that BC is not even in the discussion.
