Dang! They can make over 100k units with sections of that size. I doubt there a 100k people who would want one, though.

Gifts to donors. Donate $500, get a $100 plaque as a thank you (PBS style). There are endless permutations.

2.5 inches by 4 inches yields roughly 3 samples per board foot or 282 pieces per board length of the 94 ft court. If the court is 50 ft or 600 inches wide your yield would be roughly 282 x 240, or 67,680 pieces. At $250 per piece, that's $16,920,000.00. The AD could easily net $10M in sales or donations, if they are wise.

Great idea. My wife bought me a plaque commemorating the 1999 NC and it came complete with a piece of the floor from the Final Four.
Yep, my sister got me a piece of the 99 championship floor

I have one from ‘99 and one from ‘11. Like what they did with the ‘99…

IMHO the only autographs that make sense are JC and Geno. Get both to sign each piece and the selling price could be quite high.

There's not much point to excluding the out of bounds area, as it looks exactly the same as the rest of the court and once cut into squares, you'd never have any idea where your square came from if it didn't have part of the paint on it.

Hell, you could just keep on selling pieces of court even if they didn't come from Gampel since nobody would ever know the difference.

Have to agree. I can’t see buying a piece with a current player.

Good grief, You have to have trustees okay replacing a basketball ball court floor? A whole remodel and upgrading of a building I could see but replacing a floor? In some universities the floor cost is donor money peanuts. Are the trustees concerned about the amount? This could be a completely donor financed project, surely it could be covered in that manner.

If you feel so strongly about it, pony up to start the band wagon rolling.

The OB pieces could be marketed as "Rodney Purvis stepped here!!"

Would be a good accompaniment to my 10” x 10” piece of the floor from the 1999 Championship game. I’m in.

Imagine being the guy who asks Calhoun if he wants to sign 1000 pieces of wood.
If you buy 1000 pieces of court for the school, Calhoun would come to your house to sign them.

Well at that point, he may as well help me install the new floor.
Probably not, but I bet he’d be willing to hang out a bit, have a beer and entertain you with stories while you put it in.

Sell them in categories with different prices. General, Coaches (Geno, JC, CD, DH, and yes KO autographs), HoF Edition (Ray, Rebecca, Swin), Champions (mixture of various signatures).

if memory serves, I believe they had a ton of left over floor from ’99 championship court.

Nothing really new except this comment:

“UConn spokesperson Michael Enright said the new floor model hasn’t been decided yet. But, he said, “it will be more modern and more aligned with a new college or NBA arena.””

One of my most treasured possessions. I'm pretty sure I bought it from the school. Needs some TLC, I've slacked and been disrespectful

That worries me a little bit. Sometimes I think people try to be innovative for its own sake. That often results in bad decisions like the UCF blacktop court. I’d rather see a quote talking about looking to tap into the history and tradition of Connecticut basketball.

In any event, I hope they take this opportunity to re-dedicate the court floor as “Hall of Fame” court and prominently display Calhoun in Auriemma’s names at the two ends, and add Ray, Rebecca, and Swin’s names to the sidelines.
