-> Coming later this month, fans and followers of UConn Athletics will have a new avenue for absorbing all things Huskies and the University of Connecticut: UConn+. The university's own sports-centric streaming platform will surface original and exclusive content to fans such as features, live events, profiles, coaches' shows, highlights and other on-demand content.

UConn+ will be widely available on streaming services such as Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Roku, and accessible via the UConn mobile app and uconnhuskies.com.UConn Huskies

The new service, which will be a first-of-its-kind in college athletics to combine live and original content, is expected to launch in late November with additional features being rolled out after its release. Until that time, streaming content will continue to be available on uconnhuskies.com.<-

Hope they include women's hockey, polo, and some of the other sports that do not make it onto other services,

A couple questions on UConn+ answered in this Courant story:

<UConn+ is expected to launch in late November and will stream features, live events, coaches’ shows, highlights and other on-demand content. The streaming service will be sponsorship-driven, according to UConn’s Vice President for Communications, Tysen Kendig, and the content will be free.>

<Also unaffected will be content currently available on the Big East Conference’s digital platform and its affiliation with FloSports.>

I was going to like this until I read the last sentence.

Looking at different sports schedules on the UConn athletics website it would seem we will be able to watch all on the UConn Network. Anybody actually sign up and know if this is true?

Last blurb in Courant article link:

“Also unaffected will be content currently available on the Big East Conference’s digital platform and its affiliation with FloSports.”

Under current media contracts (Big East & Hockey East for example) - their broadcast rights takes quite a bit of live sports content off the table it would appear.

It hasn’t been rolled out yet.

The UConn baseball schedule posted on the UConn Athletics website is currently showing home games will be streamed by UConn+. We'll see if this stands, as last season UConn baseball home games were carried by FloSports.

Wow… missed that. Wonder how they are getting around the non-radio Big East Contract Media language (pages 17,18,19)?

Edit: I wonder if they plan on using UConn+ for the audio platform instead of Mixlr?

They had a press release in early November about UConn+ streaming service being launched in late 2022.

Have any updates been provided? Looking forward to watching UConn baseball on UConn+

Curious how they pulled this off but it’s good news!

UConn+, which will immediately be available via web browsers at uconnplus.tv, will surface original and exclusive content to fans such as features, live events, profiles, coaches' shows, highlights and other on-demand content. In March, it will be the exclusive outlet for live streaming of all home UConn baseball and softball home games.

The university's partner in this endeavor, SIDEARM Sports, is continuing final technical development of new 'over-the-top' user interfaces for Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and Roku, which are nearing completion and expected to be available next month. A mobile-friendly UConn+ app also is in development.”

Joe D mentioned in passing during the Northeastern Hockey broadcast that he and Randy Brochu would be doing UConn Baseball games this coming season.

"UConn+ can be a game changer for the university," said Tysen Kendig, UConn's Vice President for Communications. "Content is unquestionably king, and our audiences increasingly have a thirst for more video, more features, and more multimodal, on-demand ways to consume it. UConn+ is changing the way we produce and deliver content."

It’ll be interesting to see how they monetize this eventually, whether it’ll be ad revenue, subscriptions, or some highbred of the two. I think this is a smart move and surprisingly proactive for the university. I would much rather pay for university rather than other providers for content.

I am also curious how they pulled this off as well. Makes me wonder when the fall sports seasons come around later this year if UConn men's and women's soccer home games end up being streamed on UConn+ as well.

But from what I can recall, it didn't seem like all Big East teams had their olympic sports streamed on FloSports the last couple of years. For instance, a goodly chunk of St. John's home baseball games from last season were listed as being on ESPN3.
