UConn in the NFL

SMH Tim Boyle looks horrible. Three picks vs Tampa's 4th qtr backups tonight. Anytime I've seen him play he's barely serviceable - I don't know how he stays in the league.
He's a seven year veteran, with six credited seasons, if I understand the system correctly. He doesn't have F-U money but he'll live comfortably for the rest of his life, with little NFL wear and tear. I'm sure he wants to keep playing, but if he's not picked up come Labor Day, he has has a ton of NFL knowledge and will find a place in the sport if he wants it. Then he can start drawing a $1,000,000/year NFL pension at 55 years old.

$8.2M so far with a possibility of up to $1.25M this season. I am consistently blown away that there are not 32 people on this planet who can competently play QB at the NFL level. It is such a unique skill set.

-> In the Bills' preseason opener against the Giants, Lundt logged 32 pass protection snaps, not allowing a single pressure, tying him for second among rookie offensive linemen after the first week of NFL preseason games.

-> We know at the point of the game Lundt was getting those snaps, was late and against other rookies, and third or fourth string players, who most likely won't survive cutdown day. Still, it's good to see the rookie dominate when given the opportunity, which could lead to additionally snaps against higher quality players. Test the young lineman, and see just how good he could be. <-

Lundt playing LT first quarter and Van Denmark playing RT against the Bucs.

Not sure if they started since I turned on game with 5 min gone in first quarter but they've played every snap since I've turned on the game.
Lundt moving real well in pass protection setting bis base and squaring up the defenders.

Interesting projection here on the Bills fan site about our OLs.

-> The other decision point is whether to keep Lundt, Ryan Van Demark or both. Keeping both will be difficult, especially with some stress on the roster to keep more players elsewhere. If the Bills were to only keep five receivers, either by trading Samuel or cutting one of the six listed, that could pave the way for Van Demark to stick. However, if they only keep nine offensive linemen, Lundt has played well enough — including how he looked at left tackle in the preseason finale — to make the Bills want to keep the rookie sixth-round pick away from waivers. With a league thirsty for depth offensive linemen, Van Demark could fetch a Day 3 pick in a trade, which is what I have them doing for the final roster projection. For all his pre-cutdown day deals, Beane has flipped a depth offensive lineman more than any other position.

Projected Trade: Ryan Van Demark to Falcons for 2026 6th round pick <-

Lundt played the whole game at LT and looked good against the Bucs. More than held his own against them. It's pre-season and I wasn't paying much attention but somewhere in the second half the Bills put in a different RT but Van Denmark looked plenty good while he was in the game.

Regardless of what happens both of them have had a fair chance and have plenty of game film snaps from the preseason. And I have zero doubt if the Bills put Van Denmark on the market, he gets snatched up quickly.
