Hopefully, they will still try their hardest and look to regain Dave’s favor or at least make themselves look good to other employees. Definitely don’t want this to result in tanking and a rush for the portal. Unsure of this strategy.

This is how it always happens once the head coach is fired or retires so this is not a surprise to the coaches. The next coach will bring in his own coaching staff and if he wants anyone on the current staff to stay, he will hire them.

Not sure that making this known does much to help these coaches lead these players to improve this season.

Maybe, maybe not, but its definitely keeping the fan base up to date. Not sure about you, but I want to be informed.

We lost to Army 52-21 and twenty one of those points were against Army’s second and third string players. Not sure what kind of improvement you’re expecting out of these current coaches.

Randy or someone on the staff leaked this....on purpose.
It was pretty obvious to the coaches that they were going to be canned at the end of the season with a coaching change. Firing the assistant coaches is standard in college football (and basketball) after a coaching change. What difference does it make to formalize it now or at the end of the season when they already know they are getting let go?

None at all. Everyone knows this crew is gone.

What's funny here is how the "BCGenious" was likely fed the small details here by Randy with the intention of just having something to throw out there....but what he is throwing out as some sort of scoop is really just run of the mill facts when head coaches are canned.

This is a non story to everyone but apparently the BC reporter that covers UConn. DiMauro covers sports like he was born yesterday.

The current staff still has 8 games to show the world they have some value to someone-somewhere. That was the deal when Randy left two weeks ago and that is the deal today. Show the world what you can do without Randy micro managing.

Well he doesn’t have a buyout that he’d be violating that’s for sure. Don’t think he’d do that though

Don't forget since all of the coaches are state employees, this information may (can a lawyer confirm?) have been FOIA-able and would've come out any way.

I saw on Twitter that all state employees have to be given six months notice if their contracts will not be renewed, so it sounds like this is more about that than sending a message, or cleaning house, etc.

That's a very generous severance package. It sucks when anyone loses their job and I hope they all land somewhere quickly.

To me this sounds like they have their guy lined up and are in the process of getting him here and ready for next year.
