It's really not that difficult if the coaching resources are available. Symphony orchestras do it for every vacancy, with as many as 300 applicants playing behind a screen for about five minutes! They don't get it right every time, but they rarely make really bad decisions. I suspect the first 120 will be easy decisions; the best six will also be easy. The final six out of 16 will be a crap shoot.
