Son was going to gym but conditions became unsafe. He's an asthmatic. His preference is the treadmill.

Any suggestions for home treadmills?

Don’t buy a cheap one or it’ll turn into a clothes rack in your basement. With Gyms closing everywhere, there’s places selling high level, Used gym equipment. The most important thing in buying a treadmill to me is the belt size, noise level and motor. You want to have the running area be large enough for sprinting and jogging. Inexpensive models have smaller running belts (area). Negotiate the price especially if it’s used. That’s all I got.

It depends on how much he runs and how much room he has. My wife runs a lot and I'm 200+lbs, so when we decided to quit our gym and get equipment we decided to get a high quality treadmill. We decided to go with higher quality, but less tech. We got a mid-level True brand. It had an issue with the mother board that they fixed, but it's still going strong after like 5+ years (guess).

Since I started writing, two jumped in to say "don't buy cheap." I agree.

I have no complaints with our Solo. It's solid and still works fine years later.
Do you mean Sole? Not finding Solo.

Just got mine delivered yesterday!

Just got a Horizon T101. Our basement ceiling maxes out at just under 7 feet so it's a good match for us since I'm 5'9 and my wife is 5'3 and a runner. It's pretty sturdy, took about 90 minutes to put together and doesn't take up a lot of space in our small, unfurnished basement.

Here's an article we used as a reference:

We put ours in the room with the best view, most windows and most ventilation. I convinced my spouse that exercise was the most important thing we could do to feel good, so he said okay. We used it 4 days per week each for 10 years or so, and then my ankles said no more.

I learned the hard way, put the exercise equipment in the basement and it's not used. Not even as a clothing rack.

Bought a top of the line Nordic Track 7 years ago. Came w/ 3 year warranty. The salesman sold me on a 6 year for an additional $150, and then he somehow found an even better deal of 9 years for $225. I bought the 9 year deal and it has been worth it. Have had new parts and technicians in 3x to work on it, and we're only 7 years in. Last time was this year when the entire computer and upper half was replaced.

I bought a mid-level Precor more than 15 years ago and still use it several times a week. Had the platform replaced once under the original warranty and no other issues. Based on my research then, they appeared to be the closest to professional quality for home use.

Mine was a SportsArt, I think they only make treadmills. It was great, sold it when moved, it was in basement and went along with house.

Check whether you will need dedicated circuit, mine needed dedicated 240-V one.

Our Nautilus T614 treadmill has held up well for a mid priced unit. Works fine. My recollection from research is to focus on the belt, running surface, and other structural pieces and less on electronic doo dads. I park mine in front of a TV anyway.

I am getting closer to my spot on the Concept 2 rowing machine waiting list.

Yep. I’m a regular there. Biggest purchase was a Vision eliptical glider. Next move is either a water rower or Treadmill.

We acquired something called a Pro Form from friends who were moving and didn't want to take it with them.

I can confirm the following..

1. It was heavy to move
2. My wife and kids seem to enjoy using it.

Treadmills are bad for your knees. Run outside in the fresh air.

Treadmills are better on your knees than running outside. It’s still harder on knees than other exercise, but better than running on sidewalks, road, and probably most tracks.

Why does anyone buy an expensive treadmill instead of just running outside? Fairly avid runner, never understood that. Whatever gets you exercising is great. Just mever understood

Last winter my wife bought a Life Fitness T3. It was pretty expensive but she said she wanted to buy a really good one that could incline. The whole family uses it and so far so good, although we haven't had it that long so I can't tell you about its durability.

Maybe this site that reviews treadmills would help you.
