Still too many losnig plays but.....

  • Took 15 minutes to figure out this was game and not a scrimmage. Too much of a mountain to climb
  • In the thread of favorite opposing team players several brought up Pittsnoggle of WVU. Mami reminds me of him.
  • Gaff and Jax is the backcourt of the future. Hopefully the future is next game. The starting backcourt of Cole and Adams is worthless against good D1 teams.
  • You had a feeling the T on Hurley would be points tough to overcome.
  • Players still aren't used to Jax's passes.
  • Get Bouk back and put Gaff, Bouk, Jax, Whaley and Sanogo out there.
  • Liked Gaff finding his sea legs today but it will rarely be a good outcome if he is leading scorer.
  • Sanogo's footwork is a joy to watch.

We lost this game:
1) because we didn't come out ready to play (rust?) over the first 12 minutes
2) we couldn't get a stop over the last 8 minutes and push the deficit closer than 4

Gaffney was awesome. Jackson showed immense potential and the ability to contribute now in some ways. Sanogo's footwork and poise on offense continues to be impressive.

When Bouknight comes back, Adams's and Polley's minutes need to be cut way down. Polley in particular isn't quick enough to create his own shot or to reliable get open off screens. When he's in there, our offense bogs down when we try force-feeding it to him.

Gaffney/Cole/Bouknight/Jackson/Martin/Whaley/Sanogo needs to be the 7 man rotation getting like 190 out of 200 minutes.

Jax is gonna be special, just needs to slow down and adapt to the game.

overall, our lack of playmakers is extremely apparent. Not one person could create their own shot today. Rese, Whaley, Polley, and Cole all had awful games.

Defense also went MIA in first half for 10 min when SHU made 9 straight shots.

You left out two players. Gaff and Jax. They're the two who can beat their man and get to the rim. Gaff, at a minimum, can draw contact and make his FT's.

WE WERE DOWN 18 UNTIL HURLEY TOOK A TIMEOUT.

He played the same lineup that got us down 18 the majority of the first half
And then started the second half with that lineup (although they did chip away at the lead ultimately)

Well, that was part of #1.

Also, Seton Hall shooting out of their minds (50/50/87 as a team) didn't help.

You knew they were good at FT's. That was the least surprising stat line.

Still 13% over their average in the mid-70s.

They shoot 3's at a 33% clip, went 7-14 against us.

And neither of those include tte 19-footer at the end of the shot clock, the one flipped in left handed over Sanogo.

Good point on forcing it to Polley. Everyone on both teams realizes it and it bogs down everything. Would rather run offense on one side and have Polley work weakside. If he gets open, great. If not, you're still running an offensive set.

Right now Polley is not offering much. Easy to defend. Perhaps when Bouk comes back he will draw a lot of the D's attention and free him up for a few open looks off the bench. Until then...

You are right, but with who we have, down 6 under or about 1 minute left, he should definitely be out there. Don’t force it to him like you said he has to work to get open he does great, if not just find the open guy. But for him not to be out there at that moment for me, was a head scratcher.

Dont disagree. Have to use timeouts and fouls to go offense/defense there though. He shouldnt be in when we are trying to press and force turnovers.

I believe the TO was called at 13-2. Should have been at 10-2

The stat lines are pretty even, except they made 6 more FT's and 3 more 3's . FT's were 87% vs. 84%. The 3 pt differential was the dagger. That tech on Hurley just seemed to create a margin we could never overcome.

I think Martin will start over Jackson this season, he's our leading rebounder and is not dead weight. Plus he's an experience D1 player who can score. Jackson only has to wait half a season more to start but until then he will have the luxury of crafting his game as our 6th man, unless Adams luvfest continues.

He will enter the game with fresh legs, aggravating and confounding opponents with his athleticism and skills.

Just saying Jackson doesn't need to start he just needs to develop this season. We don't need him like we needed Bouk last season, as we have weaponry.
