Mystic is great option. I wouldn’t recommend new haven except for driving in to get pizza.

Branford is great tons of restaurants could even do a thimble island tour and go to stony creek brewery. Awesome center of town/green and restaurants

Guilford/Madison/Clinton are also options if you are looking for more laid back beach areas

Middletown would be further down list for me

There is way more than just pizza in New Haven. It's an amazing city.

Well aware spend 3 days a week there just not a place I would list as a place to stop/stay over a night in the summer when there’s much better options

Susan St. James, also a resident.

June 12, 2022. 7-miler. Once won by the legendary Bill Rodgers

GALLOW'S HILL

We aren't going to sugar coat it, Gallow's is a intensely steep hill right at the beginning of the last mile of the race, almost like a cruel joke. It's been rated #8 by Runner’s World Magazine in their list of the greatest, most daunting hills in U.S. races. It's the hill that made Olympian Bill Rodgers shift to ninth gear!

Love the shoreline towns. Big fan of Old Saybrook.

As far as Stony Creek is concerned… best brewery views in CT. Unfortunately, worst craft beer in CT.

Actually I believe that would be Senor Testicooley.
Considering Cooley is Italian American for butt, would testicooley be an amazing tuck job, all Silence of the Lambs style?

Spent the day in Middletown today. Surprisingly nice downtown. Wide boulevard and wide sidewalks that cover many blocks on main street. Restaurants everywhere with a bunch of ethnic food. I counted around 55 restaurants.

Driving from ME to NYC will take you through Worcester to 90W to 84W.

Why anyone would spend extra time on 95 is puzzling to me.

With an 18 month old, do you self a favor and find a decent hotel with a pool and don't over complicate it.

Or do it in one trip if you are starting from the Portland area or south (downeast).
If you're on 95, you'd take 495 to miss Boston. 495 intersects with 95 near Foxboro (about 15-20 miles past 90). Or 90 to 395 from Worcester down to Norwich area. As long as you're planning to stop it's not that far out of the way. It's going to be a long day no matter which way they choose.

But how many homeless fights did you count up towards Liberty St?

I’ll throw in a pitch for historic Old Wethersfield. Stay in this b&b.

My wife and my mother in law stayed there last summer. They really enjoyed their two nights there. My mother in law wanted to go to Hartford to do some ancestry research. The highlight was going to an old cemetery in Wethersfield and finding the 350 year old gravestone of her great, great, great great or whatever grandfather. It’s more cool because I am from CT but my wife and her family are from Ohio. They didn’t even know their original roots in America were actually in CT until my MIL started messing around with ancestry.

Spent the day in Old Weathersfield today. What a cool old area. It's like a living breathing town from the 1600's. I knew nothing about it and we were kind of blown away by the old architecture. Went to Cedar Hill cemetery afterwards which was also really interesting.
