Sorry if this was posted somewhere else. Good interview. Sounds like a great kid. Talks about how he picked UConn. Did we know he's entered the NBA draft and is testing the waters? If he ever stayed in the draft UConn is screwed.

Edit: Just saw this interview was buried in the long Karaban thread late last night (early this morning). It was a really good interview so it deserves its own thread anyway.

I think this will be common for anyone considering committing to UConn out of the portal. As a blue blood/new blood program, our transfer recruits will likely be of high caliber. But I do think he’s just getting feedback and will apply that to his season with us

Yeah I posted this earlier in the Karaban is he leaving thread.

I didn't really care for the podcast guy had to keep bringing up faith in the interview. I don't see the point of that as you can just ask it once and move on.

Unleash the Aussie early...

I just became a fan of this kid. Loved that interview. He had so many good things to say about his time at Georgia, an obvious but unasked question, why did he leave. Clearly he will be a locker room force that will help winning. 'All in' with my chips.

UCONN > Georgia.

I agree. But I was surprised he is testing the waters because I don't think we heard that before. Maybe we did but I don't remember.
Could Danny have encouraged this - told him that at UConn they would work on whatever weaknesses the scouts identified - and get him completely ready for the 2026 draft?

I was thinking the same thing, go get the feedback and we will get you prepared for next year

Yeah - It seemed clear that if Silas is told he's first round then he goes now (which Hurley would probably support) but if not, he takes the feedback and works on things over the next year.

Very deep draft, clearly not first rounder

Just got a chance to listen to this now. Early on I'm thinking wow he's really well spoken and thoughtful, but the longer you listen the more you hear how he is perfectly wired for this team and this coach. He is a smart kid, definitely focused and wants to get to the next level, but also seems selfless and concerned only about winning overall. A lot of people mouth those words, but he seems sincere about it. Also I love how he talks about the NBA is being a tool to allow him to help his community. Again, he seemed sincere.

I was happy about him joining the team before listening to the interview, but now I am incredibly excited. He seems like a special kid.

Very well said. If I had to sum up the type of kids we need under the system, it’s Blue Collar Brilliance.

Not really any surprise but he wasn’t invited to the NBA combine, he’ll be at UConn 100% next season.

Huh. He is comparable to Newton, but I wonder if the fact that Newton was technically a Senior when he declared, while Demary is coming off his sophomore year was a determining factor. They can't invite everyone, so there has to be some criteria they use for that cutoff.

He is comparable to Newton...before Newton became an All-American. Demary has to get better to get on draftboards.
