Why are we seeing SEC conference on the Uconn Boneyard? Did you make a wrong turn in Columbia.

I teach in the Carolinas. We do not teach geography.

I apologize to all for posting in the wrong forum.

I plead insufficient caffeine this morning
No problem. It’s a good excuse to discuss how well the old Big East stacked up against the SEC. I constantly read, (in a different SEC school’s forum) that if UConn played in the SEC they would never go undefeated,
or have as good tournaments seeding. Your sleepy mistake gave me a good excuse to post this.

I share your error, I have posted on the General, I thought, and it somehow was on the main board. Probably user error but that is to be expected when you reach my age!

In Mississippi State’s 87-58 win today over New Mexico J Carter had her best game of the year today. She had 29 points on 14-18 shooting, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks. She did have 5 turnovers but most were on trying to make pass plays or going after rebounds and going out of bounds.
While she obviously shot the ball well she displayed her best footwork and did a great job moving without the ball and establishing position to receive a pass or get an offensive putback.

Great news, both J. Carter and Annie Hays appeared to me to have not peaked this season. I realize Annie has been asked to assume some PG duties but she is not nearly as aggressive with her offense as last season, maybe it is due to the team makeup but I wish she looked to score because she is a great offensive player.

In my opinion it is both points regarding Annie Hayes and scoring. There are a lot more weapons around her this season but I think she trying to find the balance between being a playmaker for her teammates and looking for her own shot. She is going to have to play point/lead guard at the next level and has the ability to do it. She should get more comfortable with that as the season progresses. I predict there will be games this year where she takes over offensively. However I applaud her efforts to take coaching and her willingness to grow.

Glad to hear Carter is doing well on the court. Sounds like the time to get right mentally and the new coaching staff have been very beneficial to her. With so much going on about mental health this is great to read on the board.

Disappointed to see that Arkansas dropped two games.

Looks like they could have won both but wonder if depth is an issue for them.

Here’s my order of finish
1 SC
2 LSU
3 Tenn
4 Arkansas
5 Miz
6 Florida
7 Georgia
??? The rest

I also think 4-7 is a tossup on the order but think they will be in the top half.

Dont know how we do the All-SEC teams as far as positions but think Aliyah and Zia, Angel Reese, Horston for sure. Cardoso or Amihere should Be 6th (wo)man of the year. I hope Brea Beal is DPOY but she won’t be and it’s ridiculous.

Agree with this, though Boston will likely get her 4th straight DPOY.

Here are the current NCAA Tournament projections with the SEC at 8 teams. The first couple of weeks of conference play should really give a clearer picture going forward of where things will stack up.

I don’t think there will be 8 teams among the top 50. Maybe 6.

Mississippi State with a good SEC opening win at Vanderbilt. J Carter with 21 and 10. Annie Hayes with 7 assists. Four players in double figures and another with nine.
