SEC Ramblings

Looks like the SEC might be gearing up for a 9-game conference schedule soon.
If Clemson and FSU join the SEC, there are only 2 ACC/SEC annual football matchups left, Georgia/GT and Louisville/Kentucky. They can play as a one off game and the SEC could go to 9 games. I think the hangup for the SEC is that could mean fewer home games for some schools. Right now, many SEC schools play 7 home games. If you go to a 9 game conference schedule, some years they probably only have 6 home games.

FSU may have burned the bridges with ESPN and thus the SEC may be a “bridge too far”.

ACC did well also...

Six teams in Top 25 (seven if you count #2 Stanford as you counted Texas and Oklahoma as SEC...they actually are Big 12 until July 4).

Texas must have missed the memo that this takes effect July 1. They are celebrating on Sunday, June 30 -

ohhhhh, are they doing a ball drop at midnight?

The SEC has multiple postings about Texas and Oklahoma joining.

ESPN provided football power rankings for 2024 season. Except for ND the top 10 is mostly SEC with a couple BIG teams. In the top 20 it is basically SEC and BIG. CFP tournament will most likely be SEC and BIG teams with only participants from the other conferences being the conference champions. Only one G5 team is even ranked in top 50.
