After reading the stuff in the recent recruit threads and speculation on classes, I decided I'd look it up.

Looking at 247, it looks like the team rankings really start in 2003:

It just doesn't make sense that Gay, Price and Kellogg were #23 in the country, when some of the lesser classes were ranked higher.
Looks like a lot of 5+ classes and several schools that had 1 5 & 2 4s or 3 4s ahead of us.

Could have sworn Antonio Kellogg was a 4 star top 100 guy.

Rivals had UConn’s 2004 class ranked #10

10. Connecticut –The Huskies recruiting class is led by five-star small forward Rudy Gay, the No. 5 player in the Rivals150. New York point guard A.J. Price is set to run the offense for Coach Jim Calhoun. Late signee Antonio Kellogg is one of the best on-the-ball defenders in his class. Former ACC freshman of the year Ed Nelson transferred from Georgia Tech and gives UConn one of the nation's top classes.

Funny how many media folks and opposing fanbases claim our recruiting didn't take a hit in the AAC. We averaged the 44th best class nationally during our time in that hellhole conference and that doesn't include the unranked Brendan Adams-only class. Our last six seasons in the OBE we averaged the 18th best class in the country.

I remember in 2010 the majority of people on here were down about our incoming class and how we got "the other Lamb" lol!

And Bazz was like the 5th PG on our list and we had to "settle" for him. I can't even remember all the guys we were after who we thought we'd get. Brandon Knight, Josh Selby, Cory Joseph, and I think one other kid.

He wasn’t. We took him really late and was thought of as a diamond in the rough type, but was definitely only a 3 star. Not sure if he was even top 200.

It took a hit but we also grabbed Jalen Adams and Daniel Hamilton, who were two bonafide top drawer recruits.

Also don't forget the recruiting bans and loss of scholarships at the start. That had a lot to do with those classes.

Yup, let's be clear. Danny Hurley's had success everywhere he's been for a reason. And it's not because he's been recruiting in the Big East.

This board hated our 2010 class, we even "landed the wrong Lamb"

They have two rings, except the wrong Lamb who was a lottery pick after his sophomore year

One of our highest rated classes, 2016, turned out to be one of the worst on the court since the Perno years . Save for Vital, who deserved so much more

2010 is all wrong but likely mostly because of late reclass by Olander and overseas status of Giffey/Wolf.

Can't believe Huggins owned himself by outrecruiting us for Jabari Hinds, only to watch Ryan Boatright decommit and end up with UConn!
Pretty sure he thought Truck Bryant was better than Kemba too, so he heavily favored him.

Majok was a really late addition as a 5-star on most recruiting lists IIRC. I don't think he was on many lists because no one knew if/when he'd be eligible, then they plunked him high as hell on most lists.

Good catch - they only show Napier, Lamb and Bradley for the 2010 class. Roscoe Smith apparently still hasn't committed to anyone.

I wouldn’t worry about the ranking and just look at the players. All these 2021 guys have NBA potential. On the other hand , I remember Scott Hazleton being a 5 star McDonald’s All American thinking to myself did I miss something?!?!

“I took Ben Gordon and Emeka Okafor, they’re not that bad!” You were right, Coach!
