Live event attendance across all mediums is sagging.

I'm a glutton for punishment, so i've been to a few UMass games... Their tailgate scene is WILD. Then it's time to head into the stadium and 85% of the place clears out. All the kids go back to their dorms. All of them.

Then it's a few hundred middle aged and older people and a few young families.

Some of the concert tours this summer are incredible how few tickets they sold.

Think that's nuts - Tanglewood still had James Taylor *seats* available day-of. Not lawn tickets - actual shed seats.

People are staying home for one. Two, arenas are too big. Tickets are probably too expensive, too.

Apparently only 20K were at Great Woods last Friday for Florida-Georgia Line. I thought they had more of a following up here. 6,000 for Kidzbop the next night.

Incidentally, Saturday was the first time in about 16 years (Pearl Jam 2003. Night #2, when they played their entire catalog to date over the three "Boston" concerts) that I'd been there. What's with the stadium seats encroaching on the lawn? Is the Meadows the same now?

Yep and people are rejecting live events in general.

I’m interested to see if this is a continued downward trajectory, or if it evens out at some point and we look back at the first decade and a half of this century as a “live sports attendance boom” and we’ve return to attendance levels that were “normal” previous to 2000.

Listing them by percentage is misleading.
111. UCONN (1-11) – 51.5% (Rentschler Field holds 40,642) = 20,930
125. TEMPLE (8-5) – 40.9% (Lincoln Financial Field holds 69,176) = @33,800

There’s 0% chance either of those numbers are “real”

... and noted in the article:

>>To be fair, two of the programs listed – USF and Temple – share their home fields with an NFL franchise, meaning they have more seats to fill than their Group of 5 counterparts. Also worth highlighting are Memphis, UTSA, UAB, and UTEP, which all play in stadiums designed to host bowl games rather than a single programs’ regular-season slate. Finally, there are Hawaii, which plays in a venue that was the long-term site of the NFL Pro Bowl and Rice, which plays in the same stadium which hosted Super Bowl VIII.<<

To be fair, nothing. Those programs choose to play their games there, just as UConn plays at Rentschler field. They always have the option of tarping off sections of the stands and lowering official capacity.

I was at every game, except Rhode Island last year. I don't think there was 21,000 at any of the other 5, and though it was nice weather, I can't imagine that many showed up for FCS Rhody either.

If the weather is nice, some people might want to boat. When I had season tickets, when UConn was on the road, I took my boat out. One year, I boated on the Connecticut River December 22, then I went boating January 17. The ride was nice, but COLD!!.

Love Aaron but this is wrong.

“Why don’t people want to watch Northwestern football?” is a question that answers itself
They would probably beat UConn by 50.

Absolutely.

I also have no recollection of what I made this post about lol.

I’m guessing “Aaron” is Aaron Torres?
