Can you believe this is Tokyo Olympic athletes' room? (Bed made by paper box, Data photo/Associated Press)

Lots of talk about the cardboard beds. Some athletes suggesting that the beds were designed to curtail extracurricular activities by the athletes. Not to fear, one Irish athlete posted a video jumping up and down on the bed to demonstrate that it is more than suitable for sleeping and whatever else Olympians might consider doing on it……..

Hope BG brought a few more cardboard boxes. ;)
One legitimate complaint appears to be that the “one size fits all” beds are not long enough for basketball players.

The Canadian Olympic team's uniform is a denim jacket, which has been criticized for being too naive. (Associated Press)

I remember the US men BB team staying in their own private housing in Brazil.

So great seeing Sue and Eddy as the flag bearers. Sue is so incredibly deserving. Such a well spoken, articulate, incredible representative of everything that is great about our country. So proud of her and happy that her fellow Olympians chose to bestow that honor on her (and Eddy).

Eddy Alvarez is one of just a few Olympians who made the team in both the winter (speed skating) and summer (baseball) Olympics. Very cool stories for both of them.

What happens? USA has still zero medal.

Shocking, I know, but the US does not dominate every sport on the planet.

Medals thus far have been awarded in shooting, fencing, archery, weightlifting, taekwondo, judo ... sports that the US has traditionally sucked at.

Roughly 25-30% of all medals are awarded in track and field and swimming, which offer a plethora of individual events and where the US typically does very well.

US wins the gold medal for ugliest outfits which you can purchase at your local Target.
Except for the local Target in Venice, where the shirts were all scooped up by the Gondoliers. :D

Seriously, designing the uniforms for something like this is a thankless job. There will be criticism regardless of the designs. Speaking of Gondoliers --- were the Italian uniforms inspired by a two-toned Ms. Pacman or a slice of pizza on acid? There is a country with something to complain about.
