We've all seen it happening. It's not good for the tournament, and it's not good for college basketball. And the less the power conferences share with others just by how they consider at large bids, the easier it will be one day for the P5 to to walk away from the tournament entirely and not share at all.

I never expect it to happen, but there should be some basic standards that teams should have to meet to make it as well as the RPI and SOS and whatever quadrant stuff they want to apply (which I am not a big fan of). By just taking out under .500 in conference and under 20 wins total, you would not lose much and no one would lose sleep over:

Cuse 8-10
ASU 8-10
Oklahoma 18-13
Texas 19-14
Bama 8-10 and 19-15

Not making it.

There are 5 other good teams that could take those places.

Are there members of the non power conferences on the committee?

good to see the Major 7 term has caught on.

I agree though it sucks for teams like MTSU that it doesn't matter what they do because certain teams get 17 opportunities against good teams and win 4 of them to get in

Don't lose to a sub 200 team in your conference tournament and don't go 0-3 against KenPom top 50 teams (all neutral court).

Are there members of the non power conferences on the committee?
A majority of them are non-P5.

Ummm maybe because Xavier, Butler, Creighton, Wichita State, Utah, etc. etc. have moved into the top 7 conferences? While simultaneously programs like New Mexico and UNLV are down at the moment.

Edit: skimmed the article and they did mention this
