They simply aren’t very good and have no depth. Jacob Toppin a URI role player coming off the bench last year is getting minutes for them. Strange to see them without the talent.

This is the reason Squid went on the preemptive rant directed at UK fans (and the media) to foreshadow the losing. He knows they aren't very good yet. They will be better by the end of the season, but they still won't win it all.

If they go .500 in the SEC they won't make the tournament. They'll be under .500 overall lol

The thing about recruiting one and dones is the program will have a quick turnaround. What better year to have a crappy team?

Getting blown out by Georgia Tech who is 0-2 with a loss to Mercer. Maybe putting out AAU teams at the college level isn’t the greatest idea...
I mean, their decade with Calipari is pretty darn good.

1 Title
1 Runner-up
4 Final Fours
7 Elite 8s
8 S16s

Only a few programs in the country would not want to trade with them.

This year, right now, they suck. And we can enjoy that. But they'll be better by the end of the year, and if not they'll have a new crop of young kids next year and probably be a fixture in the Top 10.

You mean GLAD to see them without talent!!
Duke, Gonzaga, Houston, Memphis and others caught on to Caligari's game and are beating him at his own game. Time for him to go back to the NBA. He'll never win in college again.

And you have to remember the kids who join the program don't have winning a championship as their number 1 goal. Where they get drafted is there biggest concern.
Still, it is nice to think of the KY fans getting pumped every year for their draft class only to see it fall short virtually every season. No attachment to any of the players because they are pretty much there for 1 and maybe 2 years.

Stat of the Game: Georgia Tech won by 17 without ANY points scored from last year's scoring leader, Michael Devoe, who averaged 16 ppg last season.

Also, love that Olivier Sarr played an awful game against his former conference. Moses Wright defended the crap out of him.

You could argue, in context, those results are mediocre. When you consider he brings in a top 5 recruiting class almost every year, 1 title isn't saying much. For a other programs those results would be good, but not with the talent he brings in. Imagine if Wooden only won one title with all the talent he had at UCLA back in the day. He wouldn't look so special now.

I disagree. It's a tried and true rule that experience is essential to field a championship team. Kentucky will never have that continuity that true championship teams have.

Here's a breakdown of Kentucky's minutes continuity over the last few years:

2021: 0.1%!!!
2020: 36.8% - 259th in nation
2019: 21.8% - 326th in nation
2018: 11.2% - 348th in nation

You can make that argument. I think it would be wrong, though. In addition @Hey Adrien! 's note, I also think your comparison to Wooden is off.

Wooden got players for 3 years. Wooden also was essentially gifted the Final Four every year given the way the tournament was set up. There was also no 3pt shot or shot clock. It's just not the same.

There's a lot more randomness in the MBB. There's a reason only a few coaches in the history of CBB have won even three total titles.
