As far as WR, we appear thin and new portal entrants are available, post spring practice. Would any come here considering the less than stellar QB play?

There are always options.

About 25 new portal qbs in the past 2 weeks. Close to 50 new WRs.

Mora has indicated over the weekend they will use the Transfer Postal to add WR.




In the last few days UConn has offered 6 Transfer Portal WR and 1 JUCO WR. (2023 Recruiting Thread).

There are no indications they are looking for a QB (at least publicly).

I trust Mora. He knows how to recruit and the players/coaches really buy into his attitude. Yeah losing Marion and Turner sucks, but we got some guys that can step up and Mora will absolutely fill in the holes with transfers.

Will he get enough playing time at Alabama if he goes there? It's a fantastic program but if he came to UConn, and under his leadership got the school to the top 30-40, he could get massive attention from NFL recruiters. Mora would also know how to prepare him for NFL -- not that Bama wouldn't.

Smothers is entering his fourth season of college football and has yet to have a real role with an offense.

In three seasons as a Husker, Smothers played in 11 games, throwing for 413 yards and one interception while completing 63 percent (33-of-52) of his career passes. Smothers is an excellent running threat — he picked up 161 yards and two scores on the ground.

In his lone start of his career, in the 2021 season finale against Cockeye, Smothers went 16-of-22 passing for 198 yards while rushing for 64 yards and two touchdowns.

I wouldn't not take him because P5 talent is something we should never say no too.

However, this late in the game I just fail to see any portal QB coming in and winning the job. We already have Mora's guy, who was part of the master plan to lead the revolution (Zion) and the veteran who knows the offense (Fagnano).

I'm not taking that much from the spring showcase & think QB play will be better next year strictly based on Zion being a year older PLUS an experienced guy to step in if he doesn't have it. Plus, compared to what he had down the stretch last year at the skills, we are better albiet not a huge step forward.

And the true frosh passed who, where? Again, based on what - wearing a red shirt and passing against 2d/3d team D?
