I hope Geno is just being cautious.
"Geno Auriemma has withdrawn from Wednesday’s Travelers Championship Celebrity Pro-Am. - because he was not feeling well, according to a UConn spokesperson. The illness is said to not be related to COVID."

That's the second time he has pulled out of the Pro-Am because of not feeling well. Golf must not be his game.

'Tis a hard game, especially if you're approaching 70 and not feeling well... get well quickly, Geno.

Years ago I was told he was a 5 handicap or lower. Celebrity pro-ams are a long day and a slow round. And playing in the rain on a cool day isn't the best idea for a 65yo back.

So, the tournament will be missing the funniest man in America and also Bill Murray. ;)

According to the Golf Handicap Information Network (GHIN), Geno`s current handicap is a very respectable 9.7 but he has posted only three scores in 2022. (Bad for his game, but good for us he is on the recruiting trail.)

He belongs to the prestigious Hartford Golf Club, where his recent Fundraiser is always held. When he had a place on the Connecticut shore in Black Point, he belonged to Black Hall as well.

I recall he had knee surgery a few years ago and that kept him off the course for a while.

When HBO did "The March to Madness" in 2017, a series on UConn WBB, they did a segment with Geno at the driving range in early spring. Even though it was his first time out, you could tell that he is an experienced golfer with very solid mechanics.

His son Mike is a 2.9 handicap, plays a lot and regularly shoots in the mid 70's.
