Coaches picked with UConn connections:
Kendall Rogers pick:
<ROUND 1: Josh MacDonald, Connecticut
UConn has done an incredible job during the Jim Penders era, and MacDonald has been a massive part of that operation. MacDonald has been with Penders since he was a pitcher for the Huskies. He has developed into one of the premier pitching minds in college baseball. MacDonald would need the perfect head coaching job for him to leave Connecticut, but his stock is higher than ever after helping lead the Huskies to a Super Regional this past season and earning Assistant of the Year honors.>
Aaron Fitt pick:
<ROUND 6: Jeff Hourigan, Connecticut
Our 2022 assistant coach of the year Josh MacDonald deserves the recognition, but so does Hourigan, who joined Jim Penders’ staff alongside MacDonald in 2012, joining volunteer assistant Chris Podeszwa (who has been on staff since Penders arrived in 2004) to form the longest-tenured coaching staff in Division I. A former UConn player, Hourigan has experience as a pitching coach at the University of New Haven, and he has worked with hitters and outfielders at UConn, while serving as the recruiting coordinator for the Northeast’s premier recruiting program.>
Mike Rooney pick:
<ROUND 5: Elliot Glynn, Fordham
A Long Beach, Calif., native, Glynn was a two-way player at UConn who was drafted three times during his playing career. As his coaching career began, he helped lead both Siena and Hartford to NCAA Tournament berths. The program build at Hartford was particularly impressive. At Fordham, he tutored All-American lefthander and second round pick Matt Mikulski, the highest drafted player in program history.>
