Market fluctuation? No clue what % of the endowment may be donated stocks/securities?

I was curious about this once too. If you look at the 2015 financial statement you will see that the total net assets valued at $436.9 million (page 5), which is what you see in Google. This number includes all sorts of assets beyond those just in investments (endowment operations, funds held in trust by others, endowments held for the university, etc.). The amount purely invested by the foundation was $347m last year.

As far as 383m last year, that looks to me to be the invested endowment + pledges receivable. In other words, there are a ton of ways to slice this up and report the endowment value. If I'm being generous, I probably just look at assets net of liabilities because I have no doubt that other universities report in the same manner.

That article says "Also, $21 million was designated for the university's endowment, which now stands at nearly $375 million."

It's not consistent with the foundation document they sent last year.
