The sixth biweekly edition of the 2020-21 Boneyard Top 25 poll is rapidly approaching.

Ballots are due to me, via private message, by 11:00 a.m. ET on Monday, Feb. 1. (If you don't know how to send a PM, let me know in this thread and I will PM you first.) Please note: Ballots should reflect all games played through Sunday, Jan. 31.

2020HOWTOVOTE_080520_V01_BV_1596666870539_hpMain_16x9_1600.jpg

Some notes and reminders:
  • Early ballots are generally not allowed, unless accompanied by instructions for contingency scenarios. All ballots need to reflect the same body of work, i.e., all games played through Sunday.
  • Please double-check your ballot for inadvertently repeated teams. This error is easy to make but not easy to catch. Here's a tip: Once you think you have your final rankings, copy them into Word, Excel or a similar program, and then sort the team names alphabetically. This should make it readily apparent if any team is listed twice.
  • Full ballots (of 25 teams) are strongly encouraged; short ballots (of at least 10 teams) are accepted.
  • No ties are allowed on a ballot. Each team on the ballot must have a unique ranking.
  • All voters are welcome regardless of fan base affiliation. The only requirement is to have a Boneyard account. Also, there is no requirement to have participated in previous polls.

In the receiving votes category. #37 High Point went down to defeat to the Mighty Blue Hose of Presbyterian 65-56. It was a rivalry game.

Perfectly understandable. The Panthers may even rise in the polls just for staying within 10 points.

Donning my poll organizer hat: Technically, "receiving votes" means on more than one ballot. The "appeared on only one ballot" category is separate

Ohio St beats MD, Michigan, and Indiana in the past 2 weeks but ends up behind all 3 in the poll.
While Tenn nearly beats "#1" UConn, easily beats #12 Kentucky, but ends up behind them + Miss St.
DePaul loses by 30 to UConn, ahead of Ark & Tenn.

Interesting.

Isn't Hose usually flesh colored? Is Presbyterian a school for those Avatar people? Smurfs? The Blue Meanies?

I appreciate everyone carrying the torch for this thread in my absence today, as I was in transit this afternoon.

I've updated the results table below. Although a number of people have submitted their ballots already, this might be helpful for those still working on theirs, or of course anyone is free to revise their ballot between now and the deadline.

The polls will close in 3 hours (at 11 a.m Storrs time, 8 a.m. British Columbia time). The turnout has been solid so far, although I notice that some of our regulars must still be combing over their ballots :)

In perusing the results of the past two weeks, I'm particularly struck by what a remarkable fortnight Ohio State had, dispatching the 9th-, 6th- and 17th-ranked teams while preserving their undefeated record.

I'm also struck that yesterday was likely the first Sunday since the inception of the poll when no ranked team lost to a lower-ranked or unranked team. Truly an anomalously chalk day.

It's last call, folks. Polls close in less than 15 minutes.

Sometimes I feel like I'm playing the Race Game, juggling the teams under pressure and then pulling the lever only to get bad news.

Pfft, last call? At least I voted this week, although Plebe will laugh at my dumpster fire of a ranking put together with little consideration at the last minute.
