Love me some Boat. Always will. He was an impact player from day 1. My favorite Husky pre-Bouk. The defense he played in that national championship run was unbelievable. You can't have more heart than Ryan Boatright. Boat and Bazz refused to lose in 2014.
I think the spirit of Ricky Moore possessed Boat during that run because i hadnt seen defense like that since Ricky who was a nightmare defensively for anyone including AI.

Absolutely! Ive never seen guys get in opposing players heads like Boat and Bazz did to the Harrison twins. Those kids were terrified. It was a total smackdown.
The started out cocky, moved into concerned, but determined… then they were terrified, and at the end they were just defeated and resigned. It was a thing of beauty.

Sr. Year Boat just needed one more dawg (wish deandre stayed haha) for his own long tourney run cause the boy was nasty. I’ll never forget his freshman year icing the game at the line vs Florida St. i was like yea he is big time
If SMU didn’t take his legs out early in that AAC title game we probably win and possibly make a little run. Team was okay but disfunctional. Facey, Purvis, Boat, Brimah, Omar. Not a bad squad

Iirc i think at one point one of the harrison twins was bringing the ball up and Boat went to meet him at halfcourt and he just panicked and turned it over. lol!

What do I remember the most from Boat? Simple how much he drove Wilbekin, Hill and the Harrison twins insane at the FF. They were terrified to dribble the ball as were the MSU Spartan guards at the MSG final. He jumped it up to a "Mooresque" level come tourney time. Tremendous!

This, Mau... Boat straight up RUINED those guards - Wilbekin and Appling, especially. Both those guys were totally exposed and embarrassed on a huge stage.

Beyond worthy. We don't win #4 without the boat.
Agree 100%, Rich. It took too long to get Khalid up there.

Boat and the water bug Ricky...pure bad ass on the ball defenders!
You have to have at least one of those types shutting them down to win championships. Their performances are seared in our memories.

True in 1999 and 2014, but not necessarily true in 2004 and 2011, unless I am misremembering.

2011 it was Bazz. (AKA "the reach around bandit" - lol) 2004? Taliek, maybe? I don't remember him getting a lot of steals but he was a high energy guy.
