How can someone bet on UConn women's games, if the injury status of players is never known? Isn't that rather important info in any sport betting? What am I missing here?

What do you mean "never known?" I think the team is pretty clear with who is available and who isn't. Geno does a whole informal press conference where he is asked about who is going to play and who isn't before almost every game.

It is an important factor, probably why not many casinos in Vegas don't put out betting lines on games.
There are a lot of games and not much interest in WNCAA betting. I can only find betting lines from
overseas books. I do not bet but like to know what the betting lines are for the women's top games.

All sports have tha issue. Anyone who bet the 49ers didn't know that their QB would break his foot.
Right now, UCONN is favored by 4 over Maryland. That will fluctuate all week depending on Azzi's status.

So, you pretty clear on whether Caroline, for example, is 100% these days? "Available" doesn't tell me a whole lot. Besides the betting public, many here would be interested in Caroline's condition, so they can know how much they can criticize her play.I guess a bigger factor is that coaches really don't want opp ok nents to have too much info. But I still would be interested in an update on Caroline.

Caroline, like anyone else, has a right to keep her medical records private. Geno tells us who's in and who's out. What more do you want?

There are a few sites with Women's betting lines. They usually just post that day's spreads. Here is a popular site:
Also, ESPN has the betting line in the gamecast section of the boxscore along with refs, attendance, & arena.

What we need are multiple injury reports that conflict with each other. Azzi playing UCONN -6….Azzi not playing MD -4. We play the middle…..we’ll be rich I’m telling you…….RICH!

I think coaches prefer to be as non-committal as possible. Sufficiently vague works pretty well. For example, suppose Geno knew if Azzi was going to play, but just says maybe. That means the opposing team has to split their preparation time between a gameplan if Azzi plays and one if she is out. Meanwhile Uconn could prepare for their opponent knowing if Azzi was going to play or not. Knowledge of a player's availability, or even condition if they do play is a competitive advantage that some may want to keep close to the vest even if it drives betters crazy.

The last report I can remember about Caroline is she has a "day to day" issue and it impacts practice times. Or has this changed?

I'm a steadfast Caroline fan. I'm not looking for medical details. However, if her prognosis is a long term issue, it would be nice to know. I have no desire to know minute details--they may make me ill. Kidding, that once occurred regularly with me. A surgery here or there as an observer changed that.

Well, of course, if Caroline feels that way, certainly. I didn't know she was the one keeping a lid on things. Thanks for that clarification.

Do you think UCONN and the UCONN coaching staff give a damn about betting? Moreover, there are those pesky little things called HIPPA laws.

Not trying to be flippant here, but that’s why it is called gambling.
The following is not an all inclusive explanation: All available injury information is taken under consideration by the experts and their computers who set the original point spreads, odds, etc. So, unless you have access to inside injury information that the bookmakers are not aware of (highly unlikely) or believe you have a better understanding than the bookmakers of how an injury will impact the number points the teams will score (also highly unlikely) there is no real benefit. Also, even with inside information there is no guarantee of the outcome of a game.

WCB betting (except on Connecticut schools) is available on the 3 CT-sanctioned sites: FanDuel, DraftKings, and SugarHouse.

For some reason, WCB is treated differently than other sports by every sportsbook I've seen. Less games are available, the lines appear later than for any other event and most are withdrawn from the board at tipoff, allowing no "live" betting. It's annoying.

For decades I've waited for WCB to have the TV exposure it has today...I don't have decades to wait for the sportsbooks to give it the exposure of its MCB counterpart. :)

I don't gamble. Just an end-around comment, wondering what's going on with Caroline. I guess there are privacy laws that forbid coaches even saying things like, " her kneck is still not right, and she hasn't been able to put in enough practice minutes". I'm a great fan of hers, and hoping for her to be feeling 100%. Maybe I'll go to a game and ask her how she's feeling.

So you can criticize her play?! You might have thought about rewording that sentence; evaluate is a great word.

The betting levels for wcbb are tiny and therefore vulnerable. The books are only interested in having equal amounts of money bet each way and a large bet placed late might cause them to lose money. They probably limit the amount of any bet on wcbb games.

I caution against wagering on a sport you enjoy watching. It's very easy to see every whistle as evidence of a fix and become jaded. After a while you no longer enjoy the game as a sport but only a way to make or lose money.

Oh please, the NFL ,NBA,etc let you know if a QB has a hang nail. And it's all about the gambling.

The NFL, NBA & MLB have rules requiring injury disclosures. That's why "out" "questionable" & "probable" exist.
