Sorry to contradict you, but this song is from West Side Story, Music: Leonard Bernstein and Lyrics: Stephen Sondheim

Here's a softer version from the pop group We Five, lead singer Bev Bevins
And here's a harder version from Tom Waits. It's certainly not to everyone's taste, but I find it achingly beautiful, and I think in anyone's world, it's very creative.

Thanks. Good to know and learn. Just shows how little I follow pop music.
It's SHOW music. :p

And I'm with you on pop music -- I had no idea Babs had had a hit with Somewhere. To be honest, I don't know that I could identify any show tunes since about 1970, and damn few pop songs since 1980 or so.

Sometimes when I'm looking at things on YouTube, I get lost down the rabbit hole. You know, watching a 15 minute video of some guy power washing a driveway or something. By view counts on those videos, I'm not the only one.

Anyway, I posted above a video of Courtney Hadwin and while watching that one, another of hers in the sidebar caught my attention. Probably not the best cover, but here she is as an 11 year old performing Elvis Presley's 'Can't Help Falling In Love'.

Bonnie Tyler version went #1 in the US. This version went #3. Probably the best combination of original to cover. Major club hit.

Here’s another one that was kind of redone by the writer. Buddy Buie wrote and produced for the Classics IV, and later for Atlanta Rhythm Section, and JR Cobb was a member of both groups. The Classics IV had a hit with Spooky in the mid-60’s, and ARS recorded it in the late 70’s

Emily Linge's cover of ABBA's "Thank You for the Music" I believe she was twelve when she did this.

I saw a commercial for an upcoming, new reality talent show that will pit cover bands against each other. I believe it debuts this Thursday at 9:30PM ET.
