Big 12 votes to pursue expansion

Nothing too new. We are still in play but right now it seems Memphis has the 14th spot. Anything can happen still.

Big 12 votes to pursue expansion

BYU, Houston, UConn, Cincinnati, Memphis, Colorado State, Tulane, and UCF

Big 12 votes to pursue expansion

I haven't been on Twitter in a few days. Reading all these Big 12 tweets and all the different angles everyone has drives me crazy. None of what I'm saying is coming from Twitter. Trust me.

You can make fun of my source all you want. He knows what he's talking about.

Big 12 votes to pursue expansion

The Big 12 is so unpredictable. Not surprised things changed.

Big 12 votes to pursue expansion

My great uncle's cousin is married to the TCU AD. And yes, I do have a close relationship with my great uncle. He lives 2 houses away from me. Listen, I do not care if anyone wants to believe me or not. What I say is coming from an athletic director in the Big 12. If you guys don't think that's...

Big 12 votes to pursue expansion

Not at all. If the Big 12 expands by 4, there's a 80-90% chance we're in. The only programs who are a threat to us for the 14th spot are Memphis and Colorado State.
  9. JimHurley

Big 12 votes to pursue expansion

If the Big 12 expands to 4 and UConn isn't then either the Big 12 is either incredibly stupid or UConn didn't try hard enough to get us an invite.

    Try harder, please.

Big 12 votes to pursue expansion

I don't think that. I know that. It will all come out within a few weeks.

Big 12 votes to pursue expansion

Neither USF or UCF are getting in. Houston, BYU, and Cincinnati are basically locks. The 14th spot is between UConn, Colorado State, and Memphis with UConn in the lead.
  13. JimHurley

Big 12 votes to pursue expansion

Not quite. I'd say we're 75% in if it's 4 though. Memphis will throw huge amounts of money in attempt to buy their way into the Big 12. However, it won't work. They aren't in. Colorado State is the one we have to worry about. They could be a "travel partner" with BYU and apparently their culture...

Big 12 votes to pursue expansion

All signs point to expanding by 4 teams
  15. JimHurley

Big 12 votes to pursue expansion

Exactly. The Big 12 will have no problem finding a sponsor. Memphis knows they aren't a good candidate so they're trying to buy their way in. No going to work. UConn still likely in.
  16. JimHurley

Big 12 votes to pursue expansion

Sounds like they might have already come to us. Susan Herbst is flying to present our case within 2 weeks time.
  17. JimHurley

Big 12 votes to pursue expansion

Not buying it one bit. Other than 2 recent successful football seasons, Memphis has nothing to offer. Also, horrible horrible school academically. Right now, it's UConn, BYU, Houston, and Cincinnati. Not saying that can't change, but right now that's what it is.

Big 12 votes to pursue expansion

I'd be shocked if Memphis gets in. The 4 looks to be Houston, Cincinnati, UConn, and BYU. Colorado St and UCF are the only dark horses.

Big 12 votes to pursue expansion

Sounds like the Big 12 is leaning towards expanding to 14. UConn looks to be in good shape. Seems to be UConn, BYU, Houston, and Cincinnati in the lead.
  21. JimHurley

Big 12 votes to pursue expansion

Actually I think the SEC is the worst for us. Big 10 best in my opinion, ACC close second.
  22. JimHurley

Big 12 votes to pursue expansion

Exactly why I'm scared. Everyone says football is where the money's at and that's clearly our weak spot. I think the 4 should be BYU, Houston, UConn, and Cincinnati. BYU and Houston mainly for football. Cincy for basketball and football. UConn for basketball and NYC market.
  23. JimHurley

Big 12 votes to pursue expansion

Bottom line: if Big 12 expands by 2, we have a chance but absolutely no guarantees. If the Big 12 expands by 4, we're in. Please, please, please expand by 4.
  24. JimHurley

Big 12 votes to pursue expansion

It's simple. The Big 12 wants to increase its chances to get invited to the College Football Playoff. By adding more teams, those odds are increased. And it doesn't matter who those teams are. All that matters is there's more teams.
  25. JimHurley

Big 12 votes to pursue expansion

He seems certain that if they expand by 4 that UConn will be in. If they only expand by 2, could be Cincy and BYU.

Big 12 votes to pursue expansion

Could be. Hopefully we get in because this could be our last chance at getting into a P5 for a while.
  28. JimHurley

Big 12 votes to pursue expansion

Not even sure who you're talking about. What did he say? From what I heard, if the Big 12 expands to 12 it will be BYU and Cincy. If they go to 14, we are 90% in.

Big 12 votes to pursue expansion

Just spoke to someone who is connected to the Big 12. He said BYU will be invited for sure. Also said Cincinnati is the second favorite. BUT he says they will expand 4 more teams. His prediction would be that UConn and Memphis will take the final two spots. Only thing he mentioned was that UConn...

Big 12 votes to pursue expansion

Sounds like us and Cincinnati are the current favorites. BYU scares me though because of their football. If the Big 12 wants football schools it will go with Cincinnati and BYU. Cincinnati is golden. Good basketball and football. Still like our chances though. We have 13 national championships...
