Right, I’m very happy for him but also how does this affect us? I’d like to think it gives him enough to help his family, have some good $ in his pocket and return for a repeat.
I also was concerned that Hurley might not be the guy. So glad he showed us what he’s made of and how wrong some of us were. He reflected, made changes and made some big adjustments. Plus he’s a good family guy, the kids love him and he’s still fairly young. We’re incredibly blessed to have him.
When I met Donovan last night, I mentioned the event with Andre a while back. His immediate reaction was “That’s my brother right there” I bet to a man each kid on the team would have that same reaction. His teammates and coaches clearly love him to death.
Had a great time, thanks for putting this together. I enjoyed chatting with Donovan and his dad Bill. I told Donovan I plan on being in NY next Friday and Saturday and I expect the team to be as well. He gave me a thumbs up, and said they’ll be there. I love his confidence while still being...
He deserves a lot of credit recently, for sure. 4 things that seem to have been addressed and vastly improved:
Moving Adama around to be less predictable and mitigate double teams
Running things for Dre to be closer to the rim where other teams are forced to guard him
Encouraging Hawkins...
Look at the shots, a post up resulting in a smooth little lefthanded hook, an early backdoor screen leading to a nice reverse layup. Those are the exact type of plays that should be run for him, I’m not surprised they yielded good results. We had 4 guys in double figures tonight so Andre could...
The free throw shooting was impressive and really encouraging to see. Kind of reminded me of how the team shot FTs in the 2014 NCAA Tourney. We should all be very proud of this effort tonight.
Absolutely. Andre 25 feet from the hoop is basically useless. He should be down low as much as possible, where he can use his ridiculous athleticism and teams are forced to guard him. On rebounds where he pushes the ball 90 feet, he should try to just flush it more instead of passing closely to...
I was going to start a Diarra appreciation thread. I was at the game and have yet to look at stats but I thought Diarra played great yesterday and earned himself a lot of minutes.
Hurley needs to lose this idea that Clingan is only here to fill in the minutes Sanogo is on the bench. Clingan has struggled offensively recently but only getting 7 minutes each of the two Xavier losses and the Creighton loss is completely ridiculous and unacceptable. The kid would start at...
It’s ridiculous. Historically as a program we’ve never fared well by being so reliant on threes. I used to laugh at opponents who would bomb up a million 3s vs us. It might work in the NBA, but it’s not a winning formula in college.
When you fire up 27 threes you’re not going to get to the line too much. Good teams take it to the rim against us and get calls, while we settle for threes.
Like Alleyne who went 1-6 or Calcaterra who went 0-2? As much as I defend Andre, I’d be okay with him getting fewer minutes but unless they slotted Karaban down to the 3 and played either Johnson or Clingan up front, there aren’t better overall options than Andre.
I’m frustrated with Hurley too but the team was just firing up bricks tonight. Historically though we’re not a good team when we’re over reliant on three point shots. Tonight they got off SEVENTEEN more shots and still lost, that’s almost hard to comprehend. Went 7-27 from theee tonight, 4-20 as...
We lose EVERY road game against good teams on the road Willie so enough of your slamming other posters crap. Maybe people like you have just developed low standards and are content with tough losses, they can’t continue to lose every single close road game.
The turnout was poor though at the last Andre event, I don’t know what they paid him, but they gave his group 4 nice meals and $. Maybe they got a few new customers out of it but I can’t see how it was a money maker for them. Fans need to do a better job supporting these events.
So he’s tied for 3rd in Assist to TO ratio yet there’s still a group of people who say he makes all these bad turnovers. His turnovers look pretty bad when they occur but he doesn’t commit many. And the only reason he played 23 minutes the other night was foul trouble. Alleyne had a great...
Ok, so once again I’ll ask, if you don’t go two bigs, who starts over him? Unless you move Karaban down to the 3 and start Samson, I don’t see anyone starting over Andre who would be better. Alleyne, Calcaterra and Diarra are major drop offs from Andre Jackson in terms of their impact on the...
