    Nika in Seattle

Once practice starts, I hope Nika doesn’t hurt any of her teammates…or her coaches….or the trainer….or a member of the press standing too close to the court…. ;)

While WBB players may not be making the BIG NIL BUCKS just yet, rest assured it’s coming.

Raegan Beers to UConn or OU

You make several good points. Yes, UConn basketball has 2 collectives as well as an “NIL store” where fans can purchase player jerseys and other gear. While I presume that players earn a percentage of sales from the NIL store, I can not find any information on the amount players are...

Raegan Beers to UConn or OU

Yes, unfortunately, the same as SC, LSU and just about every other “P5” college. Big time football schools have “alumni collectives” that raise money for NIL payouts to athletes. Men’s football & basketball are first on the list. But WBB is increasingly viewed as a sport that needs to be...

Raegan Beers to UConn or OU

As far as I know, you are the first and only source on the Boneyard that has indicated Beers has visited Storrs. Do you have a source for that information?

Raegan Beers to UConn or OU

Yea it’s too bad that UConn doesn’t play any good teams…… Wait, UConn plays the toughest SOS OOC schedule of any team in the country: MD, Louisville, ND, NC State, TX, UNC, UCLA, KS. Add in the perennial run through the gauntlet of top teams in the Big Dance and there’s not very many “yawners”...

Raegan Beers to UConn or OU

I’m going out on a limb here. If Beers shows up on campus this coming weekend or next, she’ll be a Husky next season. Springtime in CT, hanging out with the team, Sunday brunch at Geno’s. Case closed. :)

That’s why they don’t refer to Norman, OK as the Basketball Capital of the World… ;)

While I agree that an employee’s direct manager is extremely important when it comes to job satisfaction, I have never left a job to follow a manager to another company, and I don’t know too many people that have done so. When it comes to your job, factors like compensation, your family...

Again, if Beers was all in on the Sooners, why the wait in announcing her decision? IMO, she’s still in play.

Someone should show Beers Nika’s goodbye video to Geno. That might just warm her heart…..

Raegan Beers to UConn or OU

She visited OK last weekend for the Spring Football game. To date, she has not announced that she’s a Sooner. If it was a done deal, she could have announced it. Until I hear otherwise, it sounds like Beers is still in play.

Raegan Beers to UConn or OU

Do we know if she has already visited or not? We’ve seen info that Chen from Princeton paid a visit to Storrs. I would not be surprised if Beers was also on campus at that time.

Raegan Beers to UConn or OU

Hard for me to believe that an assistant coach would elevate the Sooners over the opportunity to play for a potential national championship team, in the Basketball Capital of the World, for a coaching staff with an unequalled ability to develop WNBA ready pros.

Players Entering Transfer Portal, As of March 2024

As the emoji says, “WOW!” I take all this stuff with a grain of salt, but if there is some truth to this, it’s difficult for me to imagine that Beers would choose the Sooners over the Huskies. Then again, trying to predict what young people will do is a fool’s errand.

    Nika’s Farewell

Geno once suggested that his biggest regret would be not helping one of his players reach their potential. He will never need to concern himself with that issue when it comes to Nika. Has there ever been another Husky that’s developed more in their 4 years at UConn as a player, leader and...

    Jana and The Newbies

I have never suggested that Jana is or will be as good as Stewie. But when you watch her play in FIBA games, Jana is a complete player with the ability to knock down shots from the arc, score around the basket, rebound and defend the rim. She also runs the court well, has an exceptional...

Players Entering Transfer Portal, As of March 2024

SC is loaded, to be sure. But they don’t really have a center, and in Dawn’s 3 championships, she’s had 3 outstanding centers: Wilson, Boston & Cardoso. As for UConn, if you could guarantee that Jana will be healthy and ready to go on Day 1 next season, then I’m OK with standing pat. But...

Players Entering Transfer Portal, As of March 2024

Call me skeptical. Beers is one of the top 2 Bigs available in the portal. OK was 23-11, lost to IN in the 2nd round and doesn’t particularly look like a powerhouse team next season, with or without Beers. A bunch of teams, including UConn, who have a legitimate opportunity to win a national...

    Who Is This?

The video is entitled “Paige Bueckers Going Off in the Lab.” It was posted on YouTube 16 hours ago. While we don’t know for sure when it was originally shot, I have seen a lot of Paige Bueckers shooting videos, many of which where she was with Azzi, but I had not seen this one before.

    Who Is This?

One of the things we missed from last off-season was those practice videos of Paige hitting like 49/50 3-pt shots in rapid succession. The reason we didn’t see them, is because Paige spent the entire summer rehabbing her surgically repaired knee, so she didn’t spend much if any time in the gym...

    Big East’s Academic All-Americans (guess who’s 1st team)

UConn assigns GPA’s to letter grades as follows: A (4.0), A- (3.7), B+ (3.3), etc. So by my calculation, Paige took 4 courses in the fall earning 3 A’s and 1 A-. That equates to an average GPA of 3.925, rounded up to 3.93. I have no doubt that Geno is on her about the A- ……..;)

That’s correct. But it would be hard for me to imagine that any player, after completing an entire season playing for a coach, wouldn’t, at a minimum, advise that coach of their plans to transfer prior to listing their name in the portal.

    Jana and The Newbies

Following the early signing period in November ESPN ranked UConn’s recruiting class #6 behind USC, SC, UCLA, TX & Duke. That was before #1 Sarah Strong announced her decision to attend UConn. If you add in 6’5” Jana to that group, a Big with a skill set very similar to Stewie, you can make a...

    Portal deadline

As info, there are currently 1,243 WBB players in the transfer portal. Of that total, 395 are graduate transfers. Since this is the last year when players are granted a 5th year of eligibility due to Covid, we can expect a large decline in graduate transfers next season.

As I recall, Ines was picked up by UConn late in August, after Paige’s injury in summer workouts. She had been heading to a JUCO in FL. I don’t believe Ines got to campus until a week or so after classes had begun. By that time, all the “high profile” transfers already had new schools lined up.
