    What are you binge watching?

Watched the first four episodes of Slow Horses. You guys have some serious street cred with The Warden. Oldman is freaking fantastic.

    OT: Early fandom

I was 9 when I started following UConn. Corny Thompson led the Huskies to the tournament that year. A few years later I had a star-struck moment when in my family's package store I came around a corner fast and I banged my head on Chuck Aleksinas' shins. He worked for the local beer distributor...

Reacher Season 2 Premieres on Dec 15

Good start to season 2. The Warden and I find ourselves giggling a lot at Reacher's one-liners. Serinda Swan is lovely.

    What are you binge watching?

8 years late to the party but I watched the first episode of Patriot last night. Seems like an excellent dark comedy. My boss recommended it and says it will only get better.

    Homeowners insurance

We used a local agency who shopped us around every year. A buddy of mine is a State Farm rep in the NW part of CT and we switched to him and did considerably better (about 25%) on combined Auto, Home and personal umbrella policies.

    OT: Bad/cliche/cult movie recommendations

I classify Road House as the worst movie I've seen the most times. Absolutely love it. As far as cult classics, The Big Lebowski may be the king of them.

    Anyone visited Aruba recently?

Well, we really enjoyed the island and will certainly go back, so would love to hear your tips! We stayed at the Hilton in the Palm Beach area. The hotel was really nice and the location was perfect, as it was right across the street from some great restaurants and shops. It also had two great...

    Vinyl Thread

With the resurgence of vinyl I was surprised that there was no collective thread for All Things Vinyl. I was into vinyl as a kid in the '70s and '80s, but was an early adopter of CDs back in the mid-80s. I all but abandoned vinyl by senior year in high school, 1987. Back in 2014, I dug out...

    What are you binge watching?

The Warden and I finished up Lessons in Chemistry. Good story from what I understand is a great book and Brie Larson was great and lovely. We also finished All the Light We Cannot See. Great cast with Hugh Laurie and Mark Ruffalo with major parts, but Aria Mia Loberti, a native of Rhode...

Reacher Season 2 Premieres on Dec 15

Excellent. Looking forward to it. If you haven't seen The Fall of the House of Usher yet, you can catch Willa Fitzgerald there.

    What are you binge watching?

I thoroughly enjoyed the first season, but I feel it has jumped the shark in season 2. I enjoyed the unknown Spanish actors and the small-town European feel to Season 1. Season 2 feels Americanized with the addition of Paul Giamatti. I won't give up on it, but I am not as excited about it as I...

    What are you binge watching?

Finished up The Haunting of Bly Manor today. I enjoyed it a bit more than Usher but nowhere near as much as Hill House. I liked it much more than Midnight Mass. Flanagan is solid a writer/director.

    OT: Scotch thread

In my quest for good whisk(e)y from odd places, I bought a bottle of the M&H Elements Sherry Cask Finish. This whisky from Tel Aviv, Israel won World's Best Single Malt at the World Whiskies Awards...

    Premier League 23/24

Wolves score two in stoppage time to beat a banged up Spurs side. They took 8 points from City, Spurs Villa and Newcastle, but could manage only 1 from Palace, Luton and Sheffield. Team is maddening. Pablo Sarabia’s goal at 90+1 was a beauty.

    Bourbon & Rye

I picked up a bottle of Penelope Barrel Strength (112 proof) and it was delicious. Four of us tried it and all were extremely impressed. It was my first experience with any of their whiskeys and I'm looking to try more.

I haven't watched last night's episode, but I as of Friday, I was all caught up. Really liked it and Megan Montaner is a lovely.

    UConn is back

"This is what happens when you ban us." The most "Husky" thing ever said.

    Bourbon & Rye

I hear you both. With my three favorite vices; booze, beer and cigars, experimentation can get stupid expensive, and these are unprecedented times where our choices in all three arenas seem infinite. A lot of frogs to kiss.

    Bourbon & Rye

I noticed this trend with Scotch. I saw Ardbeg 5YO "Wee Beastie" is a couple bucks more than the 10YO.

    Bourbon & Rye

I have a buddy coming in this weekend for a couple days of food, cigars and potent potables. In anticipation, I picked up a bottle of Penelope Barrell Strength Bourbon. I read some reviews and it gets a knock here and there for being young. Anybody tried this one?

    What are you binge watching?

Moonlighting is streaming on Hulu after all these years. The Warden and got about halfway through the pilot and got bored with it. It didn't seem to age well. I remember it being funny as hell when I was 16, and I know pilots can be deceiving before writers and actors hit their groove (think...

    Beer

The Warden had to stop quick at Highland Park and texted me to see if I needed any beer. This was her answer to “anything brown.” It’s freaking fantastic! Malty as hell with a subtle hop kick. Although I’m still working through all of the local Octoberfests, I couldn’t pass up the first...

Watching this as well and enjoying it. I enjoyed Hill House and Midnight Mass but I keep forgetting about Bly Manor. I'll have to dial that up next.

    Best route to Hartford?

Cuomo Bridge to 684 to 84 right into Hartford. Factor in the crummy weather and it's a no brainer to avoid 95.

    Beatles: Get Back

I started watching it again, LOL! The first episode has always been the hardest for me to get through. It drags a bit and then everything takes off in the second episode.

    Beer

I went Thursday for the ribbon cutting and grand opening. The space is really cool as @UConnSean said. Two bars inside and they were selling beer out of the window to the street. Their beer has never really wowed me, but it's serviceable and the food is pretty good.

    Beer

I don't know much about them, but it looks like a nephew/uncle team. The LinkedIn page for the uncle sows that he works for an environmental firm. I didn't realize that the building is the former indoor motocross arena.

    Beer

Went to Dudleytown Brewing in Windsor yesterday and the place is fantastic. Really cool atmosphere, great staff and an incredible space inside and out. Inside has a "haunted" industrial feel with floating candles and a giant metal tree sculpture. There are two areas for outdoor seating, one by...
