That's because, generally, foreigners have better fundamentals, eh? The play of the night occurred when Ines stole the pass, made a looong pass to Lou downcourt who made an acrobatic pass to Aubrey for the lay-in! Ines & Lou have gr8 court vision and other superior fundamentals!

Geno: "We Don't Do Enough 1-on-1"

Wow Stacy Dales was my favorite WBB colorist .. she and Kara Lawson were the best, most informative, combo, hands down! I wonder what she is doing now?

Lou: If she plays like she did today which one of the pre-season best 5 will she knock out for first team All-American?

It's pretty obvious that Lou should start over Caroline .. we need a dependable starter .. Caroline is just too 'iffy' .. with Caroline, "it's always something", eh? ... Lou is just too good to come off the bench .. and while we're at it, mebbe a few changes to the training staff will help...

UConn will surprise WCBB this season.

If Paige is ready to play this season then let her play .. that's what we all look forward to .. does she need more time? let's leave that up to Paige and the people she trusts, eh? everything else is just speculation, pure and simple.

Aubrey Griffin looking to become a perimeter threat this season

I too have stated [more than a few times] that I have seen what you saw [Old Dude] from Aubrey in high school and I predicted that she would lead the team in scoring as a freshman. Well that didn't happen but mebbe something good will happen this year, eh? Fingers crossed!

Olivia Nelson-Ododa has begun her pro-international career

There's no question that LIV was a stellar defender, but running UConn's hi-post offense and her PASSING were Liv's greatest contributions and will be sorely missed this season .. her team-leading assists and screens for Paige were works-of-art, eh?

Perfectly and accurately stated .. I m monocular too!

    Ayanna blind in one eye

No, I never favoured one side of the court over the other. My depth perception was, inexplicably, good in most endeavors, even driving a car. In fact, I won several gymkhanas in the 70s, which requires [closely] skirting numerous pylons, eh? From my experience, I think Ayanna will be fine!

    Is Aubrey a 3-pt threat?

I too saw Aubrey's final high school games where she routinely dropped 30+ points. So I predicted she would be one of UConn's top scorers as a freshman. She had ALL the tools but it didn't happen. Mebbe UConn's style just didn't fit her game, eh? Like ONO, Aubrey is still one of my favourites!

    Ayanna blind in one eye

I too am virtually blind in one eye and you would think that without binocular vision that depth perception would be a problem. Not so, since I once made [in high school] 15 out of 16 foul shots and had a very good mid-range jumper. Sorry, I can't explain it.

OT: Worst Song of All Time

Brian Hyland lived around the corner from me in Woodhaven, Queens, growing up. His song about the 'yellow polka dot bikini' is the worst tune ever! We were strictly doo wop and are still wondering how he went so far astray, eh?

Who is the best coach in the country*?

If we don't count recruiting, the two best WBB couches are Courtney Banghart and Carla Berube, both staunch disciples of Pete Carril and his famous "Princeton Offense". For example, last season, without scholarship players, Berube led Princeton to a 25-5 record and an opening round victory over...

Nneka very high on Liv. " She is a sponge"

You're assuming the rebound will come straight down. No, you have to "go after it"! and who is gonna block more shots? bulkier Stef? or lithe, nimble Liv?

Newest Husky Ines Bettencourt [Merged thread]

It should be noted that Nika's 3-point-shot is totally different from Azzi's. Nika is generally wide open while Azzi has 1 or 2 defenders lunging at her. It's a BIG difference! and should be strongly considered during practice. On the other hand, Nika has little chance to drive the lane since...

Nneka very high on Liv. " She is a sponge"

Liv doesn't need to "muscle" anyone; that's not her game; speed and quickness is her game, eh? She needs to improve her 'deception' esp on offense. That will come from experience and different coaching.

    Sabrina Ionescu, on Stef Dolson

During the Liberty's late-game comeback, the two-handed, no-look pass from Marine Johannes to Natasha Howard will be the season's highlight and one-for-the-ages!

Olivia Nelson-Ododa Cancels Skeptics As Sparks Play Last Episode

For years, I've been Liv's biggest fan on the BY .. and am not surprised by her recent success in the WNBA .. besides being a defensive stalwart and shot-blocker nonpareil, she was also, IMO, the UConn's best passer .. without being double and/or triple-teamed [like she was in college] Liv will...
