Has anyone looked at this from a statistical perspective? I've got to think that over the past two years, our players have either improved their draft position, or become draft candidates as a result of playing for Uconn's coaching staff, and also due to the succcess of the program. I can't...
Once a Husky, always a Husky. Good luck to him. Would be awesome if he becomes the best player on his team. He'll certainly have the best jewlery collection.
Exactly. Scheyer recruited over his entire roster. It seems so wrong to do that and it's going to hurt Scheyer/Duke in the long run. He also hasn't shown that he can devlop his players.
I believe McNeely views himself as a UConn type player and that his gaols and outlook mesh with ours. At this point Hurley's player profile has been widely and repeatedly publicized by Hurley himself, in every interview he does, without fail. Players now need to convince him; not the other way...
Our quickness and speed at the Five is incredible, and Reed is strong too. My biggest concern was that we didn't have enough muscle in the lineup for next year. This addition gives us muscle, and creates another problem for opposing teams.
Agree 100%. Teams had to work so hard to defend against Newton and Spencer, then Diarra would come into the game and destroy their hard work in a matter of seconds by displaying a level of speed and quickness that would totally blindside them. He was a game changer.
IMO, more athletic, but if he has Alex's intaligibles, that would be awesome. I'm also impressed with how much muscle he put on during the season, as well as his shooting ability.
Long live the King! A monarchy needs to reproduce to maintain it's staus. The same should be true with Blue Bloods. I loved John Wooden, and admire his coaching philosophies, but Wooden was the Blue Blood; not UCLA.
There should be requirements for maintaining Blueblood status -- perhaps one natty within the last 10 years? And maybe there should be a designation that's higher than Blueblood. Of course, UConn would be the only school to meet such a lofty standard.
Duke's one-and-done approach makes them vulnerable to well-coached teams with experience and maturity. Hurley knows exactly what he needs from the portal to compete for a third Natty.
At some point we may go to the Elton Brand strategy -- a big-to-big double team. However, it won't be in the first half. In the first half the plan will be simply to enter halftime with neither Clngan or Johnson in foul trouble. Then, in the second half, we start jumping Edey with a double team.
It means we're still the #1 program in WBB. It also increases the likelihood that we land next year's top talent. Finally, it means Geno is not retiring anytime soon.
In Clingan and Johnson, the Huskies have two bigs who can beat Edey down the court. That could make a big difference. Also, I believe Purdue can be pressured into TO's. Regardless, this is the game that everyone has wanted to see. Could be the most anticipated Final in a long time.
In the NCCAT that doesn't really matter quite as much due to all the long TV timeouts, but I've never seen us play with signs of our own fatigue. Our long offensive posessions can wear down opponents. How often do we go on a 2nd half spurt? Seems like almost every game.
As with any decision, there are pros and cons to consider.
We're going to have 5+/- players leaving and we're not looking for 5 starters, so a developmental player with good DNA, a good family and a nice skill set makes sense and fits the UConn profile, and good the the BE.
There really...
