Another blow to Big East: Olsen in transfer portal

I may be the contrarian here, but having Olsen get her career off to such a strong start is not a negative against the Big East. She likely will get a high profile spot somewhere and accelerate her career. Not different than many of the top 20 teams that have seen high transfer activity. Would...

    Good fit for Inés?

While they are often overlooked, I would vote for Ines going to any of the Patriot League teams. My favorite is Bucknell since I love the look and feel of Lewisburg, Pa. I don't feel she has a long-term objective of playing professional bball and each school does a wonderful job of giving its...

    60/50/90

While I fall into the camp that ranks Paige as the best guard/point guard in the country, I enjoyed seeing her as the "4" this past year. Typically, her defender was too slow to keep up with her and only 1-2 inches taller. Paige was usually unguardable one on one and her quickness, jumping...

UConn Women Takes #12 Next Year! How will Sarah Strong help?

Good assessment. UConn brings the best player in the country and tremendous upside, but due to past injuries and likely significant frosh minutes (plus transfer?), difficult to forecast how and more importantly, when team comes together. Teams like SC and USC are battle tested and proven...

    Nika Muhl and WNBA Draft

Predict Clark, Cardoso and Edwards will all be impact players next year.

Another blow to Big East: Olsen in transfer portal

Not sure why all the negative comments. Big East has proven its ability to attract and develop big time talent. Once the players prove they are in the running for national recognition, its up to the specific teams to keep them in place. For many of the HS players in the 50-100 ranking, this...

KK Bransford has entered the Transfer portal

Could be a sleeper. Some have asked about a solid defensive guard; some about a good playmaker. I am not a fan of any transfer that wasn't a big that could rebound and play defense, but if I was considering a guard, this would be a solid option.

    Nika Muhl and WNBA Draft

Nika will likely go wherever she has the best chance of maximizing her compensation. With the WNBA having evolved to a scorers league, predict that Nika will spend most of her time in Europe or Asia. Based on the competition, Nika could be spectacular there, perhaps the face of a league or...

    UConn (only) recruiting speculation (merged)

Curious why there is so much focus on recruiting a guard, with shooting guards mentioned the most. Huskies have 6 strong guards led by the 2024-25 best guard in the US, Paige, who will continue to demand major minutes. We also have strong wings coming in or back in Q, Cheli, and Griffin...

    Ines in the transfer portal

Sorry to see her go but feel this was truly one of those "mutually beneficial" two years. UConn got a quality person who likely added quite a bit to the daily practices. Ines gained great experience and was able to raise her profile which hopefully will help her in the transfer process.

    OK Who Guards JuJu?

You need someone with a solid body to keep Juju from getting a head of stream while going to the basket. She is too strong and once in motion is likely to get either her defender or the big that comes over in foul trouble. If Geno can talk Nika into minimizing her hand guarding, she has the...

Analysis and Comments - UConn vs USC - Elite Eight (Game 4 - NCAA Tournament)

While I "liked" this comment, it is also common to see 1-2 inadvertent, silly fouls by some players each game. This would be a great game to play hard defense and if the refs make a perceived poor call, not being in a position to have it materially matter.

How Nika Mühl is putting together her best season 'by far'

Would comment that Nika has put together some of her best games of her career this year, particularly on offense. She is displaying a number of moves - mid-range jumper, drives, consistent 3 point shots - that we have never seen this consistently before. Unfortunately, her sloppy passes and...

    UConn - SC post game

Biggest concern was, similar to the ND game, no adjustments by UConn, particularly on defense. All year, the pick and roll at the top of the key has been an issue. Kudos to Edwards for strong game at both ends. She made mistakes but looked like a future pro the way she battled.

    Here in South Carolina.

I know much of the eastern part of SC is populated by a lot of folks like me with Northeast roots, but always a surprise to understand how few residents outside of the greater Columbia area appreciate what a great sports program Dawn Staley has built. Dawn has given top players a reason to go to...

How Nika Mühl is putting together her best season 'by far'

I believe Nina is having by far her best shooting year, which greatly enhances her pro draft chances. No longer being looked at as defensive only guard. I do feel her defense, especially against quick guards is average. Nika would be a dominate guard in Europe but more average on a US team...

    Morgan Cheli is Naismith Semi-Finalist

Most complete player - offense, defense, rebounding, etc. Can turn up the dial on any of these skills as needed.

    UConn-South Carolina game

Predict that the game will be determined by the number of mistakes UConn does or doesn't make. I believe our top 4 starters have a slight edge without Cardoso and if Nika can eliminate her bad passes and fouls, we should be very competitive for 90% of the game. If Ice and Q can just play solid...

    UConn - SJU post game

Nan, have been watching Ashlynn the past few games and I have the same question. Often open, she is regularly ignored. She often is guarded by the worst defender on the other team, making this more frustrating. Her shots typically come as the 4th or 5th option. Difficult to argue that she...
