I liked the game Dalena had. Going oppo, etc. That bodes well moving forward. 3rd base is a void right now. Padilla has been hurt and can't get in a rhythm and hopefully we will see Minnick take a step forward with more time and a little easier competition. Confidence can go a long way...
There are some giants in Bundesliga 2. I hope Schalke can regain its footing and eventually get back to competing in the Bundesliga. The talent that played there years ago was mind blowing.
Sullivan and Cooke have not improved and look to have taken steps back. Injuries, etc look to be in play there. Ellison hasn't improved either at least yet from last year. Afthim has improved, but his body of work is so small, you can't tell. Quinn has improved but not yet to a big spot.
We...
The players were recruited for a different system. Diaco' s recruiting was not good and as PP's guys left, they were replaced by bigger slower players. Crocker told me that none of the 3 levels had the required speed for that D and they tried to move guys a level closer to the LOS to get...
I spent half my time at WHUS and broadcast quite a few games at JO Christian and Big East tournament games in Bristol. But I was following the team on the 70's when Larry Panciera was the head coach and Andy Baylock the pitching coach. UConn baseball has been in my blood for a very long time!
Right after the season, I donated to the D'Amelio Collective for football. Can someone explain why the University is behind this collective versus D'Amelio?
2 years ago TC was a key cog in getting us to 1 win away from Omaha. He was good in the outfield, more than serviceable on the basepaths, and showed occasional pop with the stick. Unless Kron has a higher upside ala Korey Morton, than TC needs to be out there. Just think of the speed with TC...
Cooke was lights out against BC and USC 2 years ago as a midweek starter. That is what we were hoping for more of last year. McDonald and Penders might want to see if he could be healthy and give us more of those starts. Would rather go with a guy with higher upside than safer downside.
Have you been to both schools facilities? If so, you truly can't believe the facilities are on par. The path forward is paved with lots of $$$. UMass has never committed as much as UConn and UConn hasn't committed nearly enough.
Is there a path forward? I guess so, but what is the ceiling?
I must disagree. Their facilities and stadium are FCS level and the financial commitment is not there for an improved push. They have to take bodybag games to fund the program.
Dan Orlovsky came here when we were in trailers and could have gone to Purdue. He did it because he wanted to build something. Some kids like school, staff and want to put their stamp on a program. Others go for the bag.
