No mixed feelings here. Great kid from a wonderful parents who was an absolute Husky from Day 1. He wasn’t at Storrs to create a position in the draft for himself, he was there for the same reason Cam Spencer was. To help be the best teammate and become a national champion.
There were mixed...
Not everyone. Liked him but he had his issues especially that automatic left handed throw that 80% was a brick of a prayer. But he was a tough kid who had some big games I will give him that.
I hate Duke too but I think Roach is a better player than Diarra. Having said that, this doesn’t mean he’s a better fit by any means. If Diarra isn’t coming back I’d take Roach in a second.
It’s simple but then again it’s not. How do you train someone to stop reaching on D and quit moving while setting a screen? Need his quickness and athletic ability that change the dynamic, available a few more minutes without foul trouble.
But he can learn to turn and box out proactively...
Mid major like Reed, Brea or even Roach? And who’s kicking Samson to the curb never mind Solo, no one! He needs help you want your only 5 to play 12-15 minutes and foul out half the year without a 5 with some experience?
Solo has a claim on his spot he just needs to earn it, hope you’re right...
Wow what a good kid. No hesitation on answers he kinda knows what he wants and what he needs to improve. Love the answer on what’s important in choosing a college - family being close, able to be supportive.
Hope for his sake and eventually ours he gets to rep his state.
I liked the improvement of his confidence when stepping on the floor as the season moved along. He was growing before our eyes albeit little by little. His defense early on was terrible and by years end he has some great one on one showings against good players. Moved his feet a ton better by...
During the season my wife of 33 plus years asks me beginning of the week “when do the Huskies play and what time?”. Then she will say mid week “So and so want to go out for drinks and dinner on Saturday can we find a place that fits the UConn game?” And the answer is “yes my house and my TV...
Thanks for sharing this. They are phenomenal parents very impressive no wonder Steph is such a great kid and tremendous talent. I can see it’s very possible he’s having thoughts like Caron did after his soph year because he loves being a Husky and would enjoy another year there in his journey...
I hope Hass stays for sure. I was afraid of what we saw 2 years ago but much like Samson, their improvements were vital to getting this NC. I’m of the belief his best role is what we saw this year. The spark coming off the bench is really important and a huge impact to success. John Gwynn was...
It’s not a “high school” team so let’s get that straight. It’s the best prep team in the country and easily so to get good minutes there is impressive in itself.
He needs to stop fouling if he wants more minutes. His improvement starts right there. Needs to quit leaning on bigs and just move his feet, and don’t reach.
Edey got 17 points when we were up 16-18 and no reason to foul. He had a great start then he was frustrated for 20 minutes of the middle of the game by our big men.
The NBA now drafts on potential and he needs to take the money, go play basketball full time to be great at his craft in 2-3 years...
He can build a former Yankee Conference member that played in a leaky roof building, was cemented in last place in the Big East for many years and take them to multiple Sweet 16s, Elite 8s and then the unthinkable FF National Champions then we can compare!
Long way to go but a great start!!
It’s not his fault he didn’t play in a complex offense it’s Howards. We all hear about the certain type of players Danny and his staff look for to fit the culture they’ve built. He averaged 9/7 on a crap team my guess is they see something that potentially is a fit. He may take the visit and...
And Danny couldn’t shoot like this. If he was close he would’ve had more than a cup of coffee but he wasn’t a good shooter at all. I remember a stretch in his last year as a Husky he was shooting in the 30% area for a long time. It’s too bad.
Under 40% on a team with a crappy offense and no great scorers who can help take the focus off of him. He can shoot it and shooters become very important in this offense. I’d take him without hesitation.
Thank you, they had actual proof on campus of how important a portal player who fits can be. It would be ridiculous not to attempt to try to find an impact experienced player. And it’s not like a couple of the players who weren’t healthy haven’t been in street clothes at other times in their...
Oh I get that and he’s a problem for other guards no doubt. These guys get under and that’s a great way to frustrate the dribbler. But our best defender was Castle and his size was a huge issue.
Hey if a kids 6’1-6’2 and can defend and shoot that’s fine too.
He jumped big time from last year to this to even become a solid back up. Can he get over a few more hurdles? We will see but who he is right now is still the back up who get plenty of minutes and I hope he accepts that. I’m hoping we keep both he and Hass and even better if they maintain their...
Didn’t know he was in the portal. Not sure of the fit I mean he’s a nice player but always felt he was a 4. We have Alex and Stew there. I know he can play a smallish 5 but I’m not a fan of 6’7 C with hardly any ability to block a shot. But he’s a nice player tough call.
