Week of 3/11/24 Games (Conference Tournaments)

WCC has a nice dbl header tonight for the night owls. They get alot of grief for how they setup their conference tournament but I like that they give their top seeds some protection to advance.

Big East 6th Man of the Year

Not going to front like I'm paying close attention to other teams' bench players, who are legit contenders for the award? Diarra has played as well a season that I can remember for a UConn backup 3rd/4th guard on both ends.

    OT: Victor Wembanyama

stating the obvious but if he stays healthy this a one-of-one type player/career, the stuff he's doing now at 19 is freakish, can't imagine what this will look like by his mid 20s.

    OT: 2023 FIBA World Cup

anyone else watching? very entertaining hoops being played on ESPN+, Tremont Waters just posted 37 & 11 for Puerto Rico. FIBA refs can be inconsistent with their calls but I like that they let more contact go than in the NBA and they do call the travels when guys try to move their feet first...

    OT: Niels Giffey

currently playing for the German national team in Eurobasket on ESPN+ vs France. Alot of NBA guys on both sides, checked in off the bench and immediately hit a wide open 3 like senior year Giff, which the announcer called his "bread and butter".

    OT: 2022 NBA Playoffs

Intriguing play-in games to start with TWolves/Clippers and Nets/Cavs(if Allen available). Realistically I think there's 4 teams that can make the Finals out of the East in the deepest Eastern Conference in years, and imo 3 out of the West if Steph isn't compromised by his foot injury and their...

    OT: The Basketball Tournament(TBT)

    OT: Baylor's Guards

I know the 20-21 season has been put in the rearview, but my goodness, Mitchell, Butler, and Teague were the strongest set of guards I've seen in awhile. Mitchell and Butler were shitfting the hell outta guys, this clip is pretty much the embodiment of Raftery's "lingerie on the deck" line.

OT: kemba with 21 tonight. shot the three well and got to the line.

Really hard to watch right now, even harder when you see how Hayward is playing in Charlotte. Since his return he's pretty much continued on with his putrid bubble play. If he's cooked then it really limits the Celtics ceiling with that contract for the next couple of years.

    OT: Jeremy Lamb

I was worried about his career going forward after the severity of that knee injury but he's come back in 11 months and looks great. Already playing back to backs after tearing his ACL, meniscus, and breaking his femur, and averaging nearly 17ppg on over 50% from the field. Only 4 games but he...

    OT: Harry Giles

2 ACL tears and now another procedure on the knee that he tore the ACL, MCL and meniscus on a few years ago, I wonder if he even play this year given the risk. I'd imagine there would be plenty of concern over his knees come the next draft, but he would still be a first rounder. Duke’s Giles...
