Watching the Boston College Spring Game ...

... and remembering what I liked about PAST UCONN Spring games and why they seem odd/stupid. First, a 339 lb OL named Christian Mahagony scored on a series of Refrigerator plays at the goal line. Then to take the absurdity exponentially beyond, this kid from Paramus Catholic in NJ started a...

O.T. Ball State hires Michael Lewis

So ... I am reading the announcement of Michael Lewis - whom some will remember as a star shooter for IU in Bloomington and then 18 years as an assistant. Most recently at UCLA with Mr. Cronin - and I am thinking that's a well put together announcement statement. It then struck me ... that's...

LANE KIFFIN - the sage of CFB

Lane Kiffin rants about transfer portal: 'They're going where they're going to get paid the most'. Mississippi coach Lane Kiffin is done ignoring what the transfer portal has done to college football recruiting. "I don't think people really say it this way, but let's not make a mistake: We...

Lobbying: our Special Teams have been good all year

Rarely have we had anything out of form. We have gotten TDs from superior effort; and no ball handling flubs. Kids appear to know the rules and penalties on Specials have been rare. McFadden is a stud Freshman. I would say the NJ guy Eddie Allen has outshone others.

    it ain't over ...

The Athletic Director of Louisiana Tech, Eric Woods, was quoted in their local paper that the Presidents have agreed that 14 is the maximum the league would grow to. Considering we are still watching Middle Tennessee & Western Kentucky AND they are a FBS conference. They either have 7...

The Delaware view of the world ...

"All of which begs another question: Does Delaware also need to take a long, hard look at moving up to FBS. Darn right it does, especially taking into account the drastic fall off in attendance over the past 10 years and the fact Delaware now has top-notch facilities, including the indoor...

The NCAA quirk that was exposed in this realignment talk

Weird. The CUSA AND the WAC have the ability - through NCAA bylaws - to pull FCS programs up to FBS with invites. Turns out: the NCAA certifies FBS leagues. CUSA AND the WAC qualify - and the WAC obviously has not been there for a half dozen years (or more). But that is kinda a grandfather...

So reading the story about Derby Football is so very sad. When I was a young boy ... my Dad took me to Derby Shelton Thanksgiving Day game. John Pagliaro & Brian Pagliaro. The O'Connell Line guys that played for UConn. My cousin Mike was All State at DB. Lou DeFilippo was an iconic big deal...

NOTES: FCS to FBS; Bad to Good

1.0 Craig Thompson, commissioner of the Mountain West Conference, stated that he had talked to two University Presidents Friday about joining the MWC. Yale: I am hoping it is more than an anomaly

These guys just went 2 years at 9-1. It is a complete anomaly for a Ivy to Play a FBS. You can find Towson, UNH, URI, Fordham and Holy Cross on Ivy Schedules and it is an absolute outlier for this game to happen. However ... Ivy Football has come up in the world. They have bigger lines; the...

The wisdom of Dan Orlovsky - v1.0

“2 things that a lot of CFB fan bases need to understand when it comes to new coaches at their programs -you DONT “find” offensive linemen. You DEVELOP them. the Cincinnati UCLA mirror mirror

per Matt Norlander - ranking Cincy 12 & UCLA 80 UCLA: The Bruins are a wild card. There were 7 Connecticut kids on the Defense

I give Spanos great kudos for what we saw this first game. Why? They were so frigging embarrassingly inept not that long ago. We pressured the QB, We stuffed the middle, We covered WRs, We held the Edge. And we did not earn 3rd and 15 ... and gave up 24. And ... all over the field, there...
