I think Ball is between 20-25 so maybe drop a few mins from a guy or two there but I overall agree they can work with an 8-9 man rotation of guys who are bought in between 15-30 minutes per game.

Honestly, the roles / minutes are my only concerns. If Hurley and staff tell Mahaney his role, and he commits, I’m happy. I think him getting between 20-25 minutes is reasonably, starting or 6th man or whatever.

Thank you sir. Brea is not committing if McNeeley does, by his choice OR the coaches…just my guess. We need another handler and passer, Mahaney happens to also be able to shoot and do a little of everything.

I want McNeeley, AK and a guard. If I had to choose any available somewhat realistic guard, I’d say Traore and Mahaney would top my list. Diarra, Nowell, Traore/Mahaney McNeeley, Ball, Ross, Stewart, Karaban, Abraham Reed, Johnson, Singare I think we’re a top 5 team there.

That’s a great point. Hurley and co. know how to pitch this thing. He’s going to have the best coaching staff and best pitch men telling him how he can maximize his potential and getting the red carpet treatment from the top basketball program in the world.

This has me geeked. I looked from afar when he was committed to IU thinking “why, son, why?!” And now it’s all coming together. I can’t imagine they, as a family, don’t see how perfectly this makes sense. Gotta stay pessimistic though until it happens, for mojo.

It seems to me the more people watch him play, the more people are getting excited.

I’m with you on his point guard skill set. It’s what makes his projection intriguing. He’s got a Jimmy Butler type body and mentality but should grow into a great distributor and pick and roll maestro.

He certainly is more aligned as a player with Butler, just his size, defensive ability and offensive strengths align with Brown also, IMO. It’s not to say he plays LIKE him, but he projects as a similar type of player to me, if that makes sense.

That will depend on a ton of things I don’t know or can’t know yet, but he definitely has the potential. He’s projected first round 2025, he’s got league size and can shoot at a really high level. A good season could easily have him upper first round. Don’t know his priorities though.

Guaranteed that would be me, bad equilibrium and some tailgating would have me spinning.

Agree with @runner11 that his ceiling is as a better creator than we’ve seen, probably better than Smart/Butler/Brown, but I don’t know if he can get to SGA levels there (though it’s possible). He’s got more PG skills than Brown and Butler, but similar profiles athletically.

He could be Josh Hart or Marcus Smart tomorrow, my opinion. I think Jimmy Butler / Jaylen Brown is peak.
