    OT: Best Pizza in CT

We go to E&D in Avon, but for sandwiches and stuff, not pizzas. Harry's Bishops Corner is just on the other side of Avon Mountain Road. South of there is Pepe's in the SE corner of WeHa on New Britain Avenue. Those 3 and Naples are our local take-out places.

    MNT's 2023

It was Oman, but glad to see the team do what it needed to do. Looking forward to the Germany game; but I know a lot of Euro-based players will not likely be their and Germany is desperate to put together some wins after some recent poor showings. Oevrall, the player pool has some depth...

    WGa D2->D1

From my understand, the old Football I-AA (FCS) programs never made money while some (FBS) teams along with university presidents' (and local politicians') egos explains why so many FCS programs are making this move. I agree that the top 100 or so FBS teams should be DI and push the rest down...

The Official 2023 New York Jets thread

It's official, Rogers has an Achilles tear. He's done for at least this season and possibly longer. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/38385791/sources-jets-aaron-rodgers-torn-achilles-tendon There's a vido on-line that I can'tt find right now that shows his calf 'popping' on the play. he...

    Lobster Roll in CT

I know the hot v. cold and butter v. mayo lobster roll debate will go on forever. As a Connecticut native, I prefer what we have here on the shore. But, I do have family and Maine and there are places that are really good there, too, that don't skimp on the lobster meat. of the better know...

I have Roseland in my 'next teir' after the Big 3 (original locations) in New Haven. My son is playing a baseball game at the new turf, Ryan Field in October and I hope to stop by for a pie before of after that game. Lots of good memories growing up as a Valley kid before moving as teen.

    Vegas & Zion NP?

Thanks, the pictures look cool. Unfortunately, I only have one free day (Tuesday) to explore before the conference begins back in Vegas on Wednesday. I'll be lucky to get in 1 decent hike (Narrows to Wall Street/Floating Rock) and a short hike (Overlook) before I have drive back. At least I...

    OT: Best Pizza in CT

Can't comment on Dragon, though I think the behavior on both sides of this run-in was poor, as I don't recall them being around 20 years ago when I lived near Davis Square. I can advise that the calzones around the corner at Mike's are freaking huge and good. Used to get a large calzone there...

    Vegas & Zion NP?

According to Zion NP's website, the parking pass covers everything except for camping, through hikes and Angel's Landing from Scout Lookout up to the end of Angel's Landing trail, i.e. West Rim Trail is 'free' access. The permit for Angel's Landing seems to be a crowd control measure as the...

At least for football and maybe basketball (hockey will remain one group they don't have enough programs). The Olympic sports will be divided by divisions/pods to better manage travel time and costs.

Cheshire Pizza used to be a by-the-slice palce when I was in high school. It's really nice now, though I go there for non-pizza food and their beer menu.

    Vegas & Zion NP?

Have to buy a regular (car) pass to enter the park, which includes the shuttle bus transport up to the Narrows. Only need a permit for the last part of the Angel's Landing trail and for multiday/camping hikes.

    OT: Best Pizza in CT

I have not each place on this list, but the one omission I am surprised about is Rossini's in Cheshire. Before Fuoco opened, it was THE pizza place in Cheshire and considered to be one of the best suburban New Haven-style pizza places on a tier below the New Haven trinity along with Roseland...

    Vegas & Zion NP?

Heading out to Vegas in a few weeks to attend a conference and some professional education. Added an extra day before the event begins to hit Zion National Park for some hiking. Plan to spend 4 hours in the Narrows (plus 2 going back and forth on the bus). What should I bring? Any...

In 2013, US Airways effectively purchased American Airlines. primaruly because US emerged from bankriptyc a few years before that and Ameican was about to go in that direction. The 'American' brand was kept as it had more 'value' in the market.

The Official Thread of The New York Yankees - 2023

And while I am reading the 2023 free agent summary, I see this on ESPN. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/38328539/dodgers-p-julio-urias-arrested-domestic-violence-charges This would be his second strike if proven by MLB (the Courts are separate), he could be out of baseball in 2024.

I have enjoyed watching the last few games with the kids from the Bronx. That said, the playoffs are a long shot (and should be so that hopefully there will be a house cleaning with management. So, let the fun begin for 2024 Just my opinion, but this is what I would like to see as the...

Even ESPN agrees that the VAR in this cases was 100% wrong and also noted that Ten Hag is off his rocker. Also, after reading the notes of the discussion between Taylor (Referee) and Gillett (VAR) regarding Havertz's overturned PK, while I don't agree, I do see their point and understand why it...

The Official Thread of The New York Yankees - 2023

The Courant has a good article on the Yankees. Basically, velo does nothing if one can't hit the ball in the first place, find the strike zone for pitchers, nor field a basic grounder. Analytics should support/complement things, not drive the bus. Baseball fundamentals have to come first...

Agree, Stony Brook suffers from the UMass syndrom. A decent school in a region where everyone crosses the nearest available bridge to go to one of the surrounding private schools. Buffalo is strong in hard sciences and bio (and the only school I did not get into, though I got into UConn...

I am assuming that the two VA schools are divided between the B1G (UVA) and SEC (V tech to get into DC), same for NC with UNC (B1G) and NC State (SEC) with Duke being an unknown while I beleive B1G wants G Tech, too, for the Atlanta market (and academics). So, Louisville would add some...

    Premier League 23/24

Crazy game between Arsenal and Man U today. Arsenal simply could not capitalize on it's better play to the end. Both teams are not happy with an Arsenal PK being waved off where there was not clear evidence that an error was made (ten Hag arguing for a card for diving is laughable) followed by...

I keep telling my son, who is a big Sox fan, that the Yanks will trade Rizzo and Stanton to Boston for Casas. I thnk its a great deal. He does too, I mean, when someone puts up the middle finger and points it at your, it means that idea is #1, right?

I saw that Pepe's opended a place in the Ft. Lauderdale area, too. I wonder if it's the same? Pepe's in WeHa is good and is my family's second choice after Naples for local pizza (and ahead of Harry's Bishop Corner in WeHa and A&D in Avon); but the original Pepe's in New Haven is better.

I'll ask NBC to send an apology letter to my my neighbors for cutting the lawn tomorrow at 9, at least it's an electric mower. Also glad that my home office is set-up with dual 30" screens. I just have to hope that I don't miss a round trying to pick Saka for my fantasy football team.

Like, duh. The B1G wants ND. The conference also wants the DC and Atlanta markets and would not say no to UNC who can bring the RDU and Charlotte markets while adding a huge basketball brand name. It’s even possible the B1G would want a land bridge to its new western arm. This is not over.

Stanton only hits when the yanks are way ahead or when then are playing subpar teams (which sadly includes the Yanks right now) in meaningless games.
